what are you cooking for labor day weekend ?

Pork butt and beef brisket are defrosting in the refrigerator since Sunday night. We will be 20 degrees cooler than you over the weekend. Looking forward to a nice weekend here in eastern Iowa.

Those are some pretty big day/night temperature swings. I assume that's normal for you this time of year? This is fairly normal here this time of year:Screenshot_20220901-005321_Google.jpg

Saturday will be some wild caught salmon fillets my son got from a friend at work who brought a haul back from a fishing trip to Alaska.
Sunday will be rib eye steaks
Monday will be pork butt

And copious amounts of good cold beer. :giggle:

I was wanting to cook a brisket on the Franklin pit but my wife is having to work that weekend and I've got my 6 year old son by myself those days. So I'm not sure what I'm going to do but probably not that long of a cook.

Whatever catches my eye at Costco, could be ribs, steak, flap meat , salmon, chicken, pork loin etc, or a combination of a few items. Flip the coin.

Corned beef and pork butt both on the E6....same time.
Pinto beans, ceaser salad, homemade sauerkraut......considerable amount of adult beverages.....!!
Having a few guests over, the pork generally is just for the younger ones and vac packing in single / double size packs for later uses.
Hoping to have them finish around the same time......putting pork on first....I think????

Good Question...
Not really sure. Since the 08 Genesis 310 just received a tune-up and new innards, its use this weekend is guaranteed. Since 2011, it's only use has been as the 'table' on which to place a lit chimney. Time to change that ! It will be in the 'teens' here.

Back Ribs one night and a batch of chicken wings another night. Wife will figure out the sides that is her job mine is to drink beer while smoking ribs in the UDS and cooking chicken wings on the Performer. :)

Volleyball tournament during the day on Saturday, then heading over to our friends for a seafood extravaganza. Starting with ceviche then moving on to crab and lobster tails. Adult beverages will be served. Hopefully the weather will cooperate so we can spend some time in the pool.
