ZZ Top’s Dusty Hill dead at 72

July 28, 2021 BRR Staff 0 Comments Dusty Hill, ZZ Top

ZZ Top bassist Dusty Hill has died at 72. Hill passed away in his sleep.

The band released a statement on Wednesday saying, “We are saddened by the news today that our Compadre, Dusty Hill, has passed away in his sleep at home in Houston, TX. We, along with legions of ZZ Top fans around the world, will miss your steadfast presence, your good nature and enduring commitment to providing that monumental bottom to the ‘Top’. We will forever be connected to that “Blues Shuffle

You will be missed greatly, amigo.

Frank & Billy”

Hill spent over 50 years with the band.

I read that he had recently suffered a hip injury & that he was forced to miss performances as part of the band’s summer tour. There have been no further details on cause of death.

I own all of their vinyl LPs from 1971-1990 & now I regret never seeing the Top in concert.

He will be missed, R.I.P.

I saw them twice more recently. They actually came to Wichita Falls a few years back. My wife and I saw them in maybe 2011 in Dallas and I ran into Billy Gibbons in the hotel bar that night. That was a crazy coincidence. Those first 5 or 6 albums from the 70s were just killer. I threw on Tejas on the way home from work.

Guys, after CCR broke up Oct. of 72, Here came ZZ Top. Been a fan ever since. Have seem them live 12 or more times. From Columbia SC. to the Cotton Bowl (and all points in between). He will be missed. Longest running band with original members in Rock history. 50+ years.

R.I.P. Dusty

When I first went in the AF I had a little cassette player and about 6 albums and ZZ Tops first album was one of them played that till both the machine and the tape started to slow down.
Love the group .
