Wickers (clone) Chicken Thighs and Sides

I should call this the Bob Correll post. Really loved the looks of the Wicker's Chicken Bob did recently. Found his recipe clone for the Wickers marinade and took a crack in it. Also in a recent post of Bob's I loved the idea of doing potatoes, foiled and placed directly on the coals. Decided to do that too. The veggie is kind of weird. I grazed through the produce section of our market looking for some idea of something I haven"t done before. Spotted some nice looking radishes and thought why not. Yep, grilled radishes. Here goes. Thanks for the great ideas Bob!

Wanted bone in, skin on, chicken thighs. These were all Safeway had to offer.

Followed Bob's recipe exactly only doubled it.

~original

Placed thighs in a 2 gallon zip lock and marinated for around 4 hours. Would have liked to go a little longer but ran out of time.

Here goes with the radishes.

In foil with chopped garlic, butter and salt and pepper.

Threw the spuds on next.

After the potatoes had been on for about a half hour I threw on the radishes.

Thighs ready for grill.

Radishes took about 20 minutes.

Plate.

Other then on this forum I've never seen Wicker Marinade or other products. Never heard of it either. I did a quick lap around town and did look for it but no luck. Bob's clone recipe sounded fantastic so wanted to give it a go. I'm not disappointed. Chicken was fantastic. Potato was terrific also. The radishes were good and I ate them all. Not the favorite veggie I've ever cooked but tasty. The time in the foil really softens the bite of a raw radish and was really a mellow flavor. Anyway, have a good weekend everyone. Thanks for looking.

Great looking cook Cliff, like the potatoes and the Wickers chicken. Today is Barb's birthday and she wanted Filet Mignon Steaks with Martini Marinade (Weber's Charcoal grilling the art of cocking with live fire) for her birthday dinner and the taters done just like Bob and you did.
Not a big fan of radishes as is Barb so I think we'll pass on that;)

Nice chicken cook on the Craycort grill Cliff, have to look up Wickers clone, and i'd give those radishes a try.

The chicken & potatoes, Yes! Will give the Wicker's marinaded chicken a try as it looks very tasty.
I love raw radishes - not sure about cooked, though. I sauteed some radish greens a while back - not bad, but you need 3 bunches of radish to make several portions.

Thanks guys!

Today is Barb's birthday

Looking forward to seeing your cook Rich. HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO BARB!

Cliff, is that an ice cube in the middle of the radishes?

Meant to mention that Timothy. Yes, it's an ice cube. A little steam I guess.

Darned, I tossed mine. It crossed my mind to save them as I had three bunches. Will remember that Robert.

Cliff, I make the clone all the time!
In fact, I marinated 3 birds in it overnight for Smoke Day 13.
Everyone LOVED it! Said it was the BEST chicken they've had!

Not sure if it were available i'd buy it, I kinda think the homemade is better....

And
Your
Chicken
Looks
AWESOME!!

Cliff, that is some awesome chicken and potatoes you did. Will pass on the radishes not for me.

Thanks Jim. Really appreciate it. Probably won't ever see it up here. Next time I'm ever in the SF Bay Area I might check around, just out of curiosity.

Some really nice looking thighs. Did you grow the radishes? Deer don't eat the radishes, right? :)

Everything, except those red/white things, looks delicious Cliff!
Glad you like the Wicker's clone.
It's a Missouri made product and not always that easy to find in my area, so it's doubtful you'll find it anywhere out there.

Great looking meal Cliff! Had sautéed radishes for the first time last year. Never really thought about cooking them until then. Will have to give the wickers recipe a try.

Awesome that the clone recipe is so good. I'm going to have to try a different rub sometime. Everything looks delicious! I've eaten radishes a lot but never a cooked radish. How were they?

Thanks everyone!

Nope. Winco did. Deer will eat the greens, for sure. They're almost as bad as a goat, but we tolerate them.

They had a nice flavor. Not bitter at all. I was a bit disappointed in the presentation. They didn't have the color I expected and looked a little washed out. Not very appealing to look at. Still they were good..... if you like radishes.:D
