I don’t know nutin about no vortex gizmo. Oh, that thing on my head, that’s an Alien Ray Deflector. Keeps all those evil rays that them there aliens beam down that makes you burn your chicken or under cook your brisket and the like, from getting into your noggin.
Some people I hear actually use the ARD for cookin stuff, hard to believe ain’t it.
I fired up the vortex for the first time last night. Used the gas igniter on the performer to get it going.
Tried two different chicken recipes, one was Weber’s salt free Chicken rub and the other was a peach/mango marinade I dreamed up.
Barb did her mustard mayo COTB with cheddar cheese along with some leftover Creamy Chipotle pasta.
Cook time was 35 minutes turning the lid 180* after 15 minutes.
I’m usually skeptical of gadgets like this, but this thing lives up to the hype. On the first run it made two of the best chicken recipes I’ve ever had. Crispy skin and moist juicy meat. Even the corn tasted better.
Plus the fuel savings will help in the long run as I don’t think I had even a full small chimney of charcoal in the vortex. The dome temperature was still at 375 an hour and twenty minutes after I started it when I went inside.
I liked it so much I might order another ARD for the JJ and this time I bet Barb agrees.
Thanks for stopping by
