OLD!!
Preparing to grill a couple of pork steaks yesterday made me stop and ask myself,
how long have I been making these things?
45 years! and I'm still no expert.

Two brined ones on with a light touch of a rub mix:

Gave them a good indirect hickory wood smoking before going direct.

Haven't made naked corn for a long time, so mine was stripped.

Bandana's Sweet & Smoky for the sauce.

These were on the thin side.

Sided with KC Masterpiece Applewood Smoked Bacon beans, from a can.

Pork steak and beans were super, and the corn was good, but I'll stick with grilling it in the husk since it's more juicy that way, at least to me.

Backyard update.
Getting grass growing where the old pool fill-in took place.

Thanks for the visit, have a great Labor Day everyone!!

Those pork steaks look wonderful, Bob. The plate is lovely too. Nice healthy looking meal. I really liked your yard shots!

Bob,

Pork steaks say "Missouri Grilling" to me more than anything else. Don't know why...probably because they're a family favorite, and have been since the early 70s when my dad finally overcame his fear of trichinosis and let mom start buying pork that wasn't cured.

Beautiful job and great photos.

no expert?? Certainly THE BEST, you are Robert Correll!
The pig, the maize, love apples and the gas bombs all look Perfect!!

Very nice Bob. That former pool area looks like it'd make a decent fly zone. ;)

Looks great Bob! We can't wait to do some again for ourselves. The mater with rain on them pic....awesome! you have a very good eye to go along with your "all things cooked over fire" :) thanks for sharing!

Keep the pork steak pics coming Bob...makes me want to pay the inflated AZ prices for them! In the meantime, I'll enjoy them vicariously through your posts! Thank you!! :D

Bob, old is relative to what your referencing too. 45 years of cooking pork and think how much pork has changed in those 45 years, so it changes and you change to make it better, new ways of doing your cooks, of course they all won't be perfect.
Old red wine taken good care of is excellent! Old baloney in the back of the fridge, not so much, I'd reference you to a well kept bottle of red any day. With all the experience you have and shared on this forum since 2009 many like myself can now cook pork and many other things we never would have known about or tried. Thank you!

Bob we're all getting old, I keep telling myself I will get it right some day, well I'm still looking for that day. keep the pork steaks coming, nice cook my friend

Dave
