I think this is why Weber makes the 26

And the cast iron grate is heating up for this: And yes, it tasted as good as it looks.

Walleye and veggies - it's what's for dinner

I threw some chunks of cherry on the coals when I put the fish on and it added a really nice smoke flavor. I also grilled broccoli raab, eggplant and Spanish onion slices to go with.

    My new 26

Not only new to me, but it looks pretty much new as well. It's an '85 that was apparently used in a store display somewhere and then set aside in an attic. It's practically flawless and it never had a fire built in it. It really fills up the bed in my truck. It's a beaut...

    Pineapple

Sugar, cinnamon, ground clove and a hot rotisserie. I overcooked it a little bit but it was still good.

Another Valentine's Day surf and turf

Like just about every one else I wanted to make something nice for dinner so I fired up my Platinum, got the cast iron grate hot and grilled egg plant, asparagus, shrimp and a couple New York strips. It was nothing particularly fancy but it is amazing what you can do with some charcoal.

    Here I go

We're celebrating Thanksgiving a day early this year so our kids can celebrate with their other in-laws tomorrow. As a consequence I've got my turkey on right now. If you enjoy this sort of thing, you can follow along on my blog at http://smpoke-on.blogspot.com/2011/11/gobble.html and updating...

Please critique my blackening spice recipe

The Mississippi River was kind and yielded up a nice quantity of walleye, bass and crappie this last week so when I got home I set about cooking some for dinner. I wanted to do it on my grill (Weber gasser - I'll save the charcoal for when it's not raining!) and my google searches came up with...

Craigslist strikes again - with pix

I replied to an add for a $40 Weber gas grill yesterday. All I could tell from the picture was that it had extendable tables on both sides and a thermometer in the middle of the hood. It was in downtown Chicago - over an hour drive one way - but about ten minutes from the new grandson. It...

what would you do with 5 lb chicken liver?

Maybe 10 lb. I did not weigh it. My son raised a bunch of chickens and does not like chicken liver so I got them. They're in three or four bags and are frozen. I'm thinking of smoking them and making a pate from that. Since the livers have a fairly strong flavor, I thought I'd use hickory and a...

Video on Weber history and manufacturing

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6yv29dcffuE I'm not sure if this as been posted before. I ran across it on Facebook (History channel) and hadn't seen it before.

    Fajitas for 60

Hi folks, I owe my neighbors a favor so I offered to grill for them at an upcoming event (this coming Sunday) when they will be winding down from holding a local bicycle race. (That's the Winfield Criterium for anyone interested.) They expect up to 60 people to be served picnic style and have...

    Cleaning up a Q

This is something we're all going to need to do (unless we don't actually use our grills...) I thought I'd share what I did and give others a chance to share any of their tips and tricks. I started with an '08 Q 220 that may never have been cleaned. The igniter no longer worked (dead battery)...

    I have a Q!

It's another CL bargain. Seller said I've seen enough descriptions of tripping fuel safeties to suspect that would be the extent of the problem. I even advised the seller that he should contact Weber and see if they could help him resolve the issue. He had already purchased a replacement and was...

SS Performer and propane tank age?

I'm curious about the SS Performer. I have an older Performer with plastic table and no bin or propane igniter. I would be happy to upgrade to the SS model with propane ignition if it didn't cost an arm and a leg. Does a refillable propane tank come with all of them? What years were they made...

Why not the cover with the mesh strip?

Apparently the covers with the mesh strips are less desirable than the solid covers. I've seen this mentioned a couple times but never saw a reason why. Nor is the reason obvious to me. Feel free to clue me in! thanks

My Silver A has a big brother!

The CL ad said "Old Gas Weber Grill." The key phrase in the description was "Reply to this and I will let you have it free ..." which I did. I just got back from picking up what I guess is a Genesis Silver B. It looks like the three burner version of my Silver A. It included a propane tank...

    Favorite Rotisserie recipes?

My Silver A has an accessory. I scored a rotisserie off CL for $5. It was never even used because the person who bought it thought it would fit their gasser but it did not. It fits mine. So I'm wondering what I should make on it first. Chicken? Pineapple? Got any favorite rotisserie recipes...

#62 of 101 gadgets that changed the world

According to the History Channel. "In 1952 two brothers turned a pair of marine buoys into the first Weber grill. With 50 million units moved, it's the best selling grill in the US." So the first one was made the year before I was born. I have four.

Can I show off? (Turkey with pictures)

I'm just so happy with how this bird came out. It's a special one. It's the last of the batch that our son and his wife raised last year. This summer they are in the midst of moving due to a promotion and there will be no more home raised birds for the foreseeable future. I'll state first that...

Tell me about my CL find
