Hi Troy, Had a issue like this also where I could get it to light with a lighter but not the igniter. I found with mine I had to adjust the electrode. It was sparking some but for what ever reason would not light. I just took pliers and adjusted the distance a little and it worked.

Yea too be honest I never noticed but they both are 22.5's. The only difference is the black is a 2010 and the red is a '73 Here is a front view and they do look to be slightly different

I had the same problem when I replaced my igniter. I cannot remember exactly but I had to play around with the distance between the igniter core and the tube. Once I got the correct distance it fires up like a champ.

Check the back side of the plate that has the Weber logo, right by the tank. Atleast thats where mine was.
