Yesterday at Costco..

My wife and I went to Costco yesterday and they had a sign out front saying that Kirkland Signature (KS) Toilet Paper and Paper Towels are out of stock. Ok fine. We go in and decided to buy a big box of a different brand of TP.

Later we were in the Health and Beauty Products section and about to head to the checkout aisles when I saw a customer with a package of KS TP (the one with 30 or so rolls) and paper towels in their cart. I'm thinking "where did they get those from?", and then another customer passed me and same thing, and another, and another. It dawned on me that they must have just got the TP and Paper Towels back in stock so I headed out to the main aisle that leads down to where the TP, paper towels, etc. are. Just follow the trail, right?

Everyone, and I mean EVERYONE, coming down that aisle in the the opposite direction I was going had one package of KS TP and one package of KS Paper Towels in their cart. Big smiles on their faces as well. It was hilarious. Anyway I get down to where the TP and Paper Towels are and one of their employees was handing out the TP packages. She asked me "do you need TP?". ME: "Yes". So she grabs one and puts it in my cart. Same thing with the paper towels. They had a limit of 1 per customer for each one so they were enforcing that. After picking up 1 package of each, I went and put the big box of TP that we got earlier back.

I should say that we got to Costco at about 9:30 AM.

....I have yet to figure out why tho?
Me too. I do not understand the panic.

Perhaps because where I live, I could get snowed in for a time and I tend to be prepared. I tend to pick up stuff little by little and have enough to not feel the need to rush the store's stock. Should 'prolly get some though since working at home (when it used to be on the ofices' bill.) I know... TMI, but it's the realistic result of not going into work.

I need to go over for a couple of things I missed last time I went (forgot to put them on the list!) so, I might get one extra bundle of TP then again, I might not.

Same thing here, Barb told me that Safeway's TP and Paper towel aisle is empty.

I went shopping at my local Vons on Saturday - no lines, store was busier than usual but I attributed that to weekend shopping for Thanksgiving this week.

The paper product aisle did have signs out again "Limit 2" and the shelves were a bit bare, but I did get some paper towels.

I'm guessing this is Hoarding Part 2 as lots of states go back into lockdown?

I hit a Costco here this afternoon, and the only TP in stock that I could fined was in the institutional sized rolls. Gonna be back up in Metro on Wednesday, may check another one.

I've been seeing the same thing. Not surprising to me.

Who knows if the current projections will be right or not. Let's hope not.

But the projections now say that mid-December will be as bad as March/April were. So people think they have seen this movie before -- i.e. supply chain disruptions, lock downs, shortages.

Can't wait until 2020 is over and Spring 2021 arrives.
