After years of wanting one, I got a Stand Mixer. Seeing all the breads made on this forum, I've always wanted to participate, but didn't have the mixer. Now I do

Love it, @ChuckO ! Bread is a lot of fun, glad you got a nice mixer so you can dive in. For what it's worth, I've been making bread since about 2012, and I didn't get a mixer until this Christmas.... :) It IS really nice for enriched breads, really stiff doughs, etc. I still enjoy getting my hands into a batch of dough and really feeling how it changes through the process.

That's a very nice looking loaf of sandwich bread. You're off to a great start. If you decide to dip your toe into the sourdough/naturally leavened side of things, let me know. I can share some of my starter, and favorite sites (thefreshloaf.com is the best!)

PS: I got some pasta cutter attachments for my Atlas 150, a hot plate/burner to use in my smoker for lower temp smoking (sausage, cheese) and some other misc culinary stuff.)

Now you can make pizza dough in 10 mins.

I got a fruitcake and a bottle o' Pinch. In my old age, I like the fruitcake more than the Pinch. I've always like a good fruitcake. This one is the one I await every year. It comes from a friend that home makes these for his friends. It's dark and rich with rum, covered in cheesecloth, plastic wrap, then foil. I just finished a piece with my coffee this morning.

Not equipment, but a really sweet gift from my daughter. She commissioned a friend who works as a merchandizing consultant to create a logo and stickers for my Q when I give it away. She keeps pushing me to sell this stuff, and her belief in me (however misguided, LOL) is really touching. (I've been using the name "That'll Do, Pig" in my family as an inside joke name for my fake BBQ company for years, every time someone asks me to make them a batch "when I have time.")

Not sure where to post Wok recipes. Guess they will go in the main ingredient threads. Like "Spicy Orange Beef" that DH just picked out for tonight's dinner. See you on the Beef thread. ;)

Don't tell my bride that you can make bread w/o a stand mixer, it was the only way I could get her to buy me one, LOL
I'll definitely take you up on your starter, but not until I've got a few cooks under my belt. Here's my plan for New Year's Day

@ChuckO: if you don't have it already, get yourself a copy of this book. It'll elevate your game - mixer or not. Very similar baking method to the video you shared.

Thanks Jim

I ordered it today and clear case to store the mixer in

Looks great!

I'm into artisan bread. Just pulled a loaf of sourdough out of the oven. Nothing like white turkey meat sammiches on sourdough with mayo, cranberry sauce, salt & pepper. Can't wait for it to cool.
