I'll take that dare and eat one Beyond Burger for a free Traveller.Received an email from Weber (UK) for an offer to win a Weber Traveler. The Horror! (Not the grill).

I'm curious to know how you advertise and price your particular refurbs. I never thought they could fetch much, because most people wouldn't care if it's "new parts", it's still an "old outdated grill".I am the same way. However, I never message one regarding their pricing. Many times when I list one of my rehab grills for sale, I get the trolls that say I am dillusional or on crack or whatever after the offer me $120. I have sold every one of those grills at or very close to my asking price. But some times I will message a person when they are selling a Weber and let them know it is actually a three burner vs two burner or it is a Genesis 1000 and not a Silver B and that kind of thing.
Got it, makes perfect sense. Thanks for the reply!John, there are a lot of people out there that realize the newer grills are geared more towards flash than substance. Most of those people are ones that grew up with or owned the older Genesis grills in the past. They realize the older grills cook just as well and many believe better than the newer ones. The older grills last longer. Try to find one of these Genesis II grills that is still in working condition twenty five years from now! The older grills are just simpler but very effective at what they were designed to do.
Then, consider $300-$400 for a good rehab vs $1000 for a new Genesis. Yep, there is a market out there, but with the price of everything needed to refurbish the grills and parts availability, it get tougher and tougher every year to make a reasonable return on your time involved.
Most advertising is done through Craigslist and FB Marketplace. There are some others, such as offerup and other sale sites as well.
I'm not sure where you are in NY, but old Genny's are a hotbed up here in the Saratoga / Lake George area and Adirondacks. There are folks here looking for a vintage look for their camp or who just want something that their neighbors can't buy in the store. I sell every old grill I turn out at $400 or more nowadays in the blink of an eye and even rolled one out well beyond the $1000 price point just this spring. Never underestimate what someone might be willing to pay....even if it's beyond what you or I might ever comprehend. I had been leaving money on the table for quite a while by pre-judging market value erroneously.I'm curious to know how you advertise and price your particular refurbs. Does this include Silver models, or mostly just the 1000's from the 90's?I'm not sure where you are in NY, but old Genny's are a hotbed up here in the Saratoga / Lake George area and Adirondacks. Any of the wood slat K's (1000, 2000, 3000, etc) & large table Platinums will command the highest dollar for me. Silver C's are also very desirable because of the side burner (even though I find them to be a largely useless PIA on the refurb side of things). Any square top with color will fetch more money than a standard black. I'd be happy to see a steady stream of green lids come my way in any variety of A, B, C, or other...they are just such a great fit for the rustic lodge look that so many of my customers are after. Ironically, they seem to be the rarest for me to get my hands on as well. I drove 7hrs round trip to Queens, NY just a couple of weeks ago to pick up a green top 3400 with glass doors and am already in talks with a client to restore it with an $850 budget in mind. Search "The Weber Guy" on Facebook and you should be able to find me. Although you won't see me being very active at this time of year as I take long weekends to go camping, you'll still get a good feel for the verbiage and language I use to promote things from there.Does this include Silver models, or mostly just the 1000's from the 90's?
What type of language do you use in your posts to advertise and highlight the fact that they're completely refurbed? Anything in particular that seems to catch potential buyers' attention?
Don't worry, I'm not anywhere near your area...not trying to poach your buyers lol
I think it’s the other way around. Weber doesn’t want Home Depot sitting on lots of grills at the end of the season. Either Home Depot will discount till they move or return them to Weber. They will adjust their payments to Weber accordingly. Plus another week it’s Halloween and it will be Christmas soon…In regards to Home Depot not stocking a lot of the higher end Weber's which mine does not have many either although you can get what you want ship to store and delivered. I just think these chains are getting smarter and don't want a lot of 1200 or 1500 dollar grills lying around at the end of the season and being stuck with them till the following year or having to knock them down in price killing their profit to move them.
I offered a Chinese restaurant chicken finger (with batter removed) to my cat once. Wouldn't touch it. Hmmmm...I'd offer a beyond burger to my neighbors dog. It would be interesting to see if he would eat one.
Or maybe it was meowing a couple days beforeIt probably was literally a chicken FINGER.
I once ordered "chicken with 4 legs" in China and had some fun with colleagues. Never saw a stray cat that trip...Or maybe it was meowing a couple days before
My wife eats beyond burgers sometimes. We offered some to the dog one time and he didn’t even respond to it as food. Completely ignored it.I'd offer a beyond burger to my neighbors dog. It would be interesting to see if he would eat one.
