I will just leave this here

I'm sure many of you can relate....
I've got a slightly crusty 310 that has been sitting here for WELL over a year with rotted out grates that I REALLY want gone now. Hard to sell without grates - thought about just dumping it for parts - getting to the point where I was ready to scrap it. I saw an ad pop up on CL for a set of grates and bars for an E3XX ~8pm Sunday and responded to it ... 5 miles away --- COOL!

I had responded by CL email..... Monday morning I hadn't heard back from the seller, so I decided to text him - I don't know why I didn't text in the first place .... He responded that someone was going to pick them up in the afternoon but would let me know if he flaked out --- bummer - I pretty much gave up hope of getting them.... Well - I got a text at ~4pm saying the guy DID flake on them and I could pick them up --- COOL!!! So, I jump in the truck to go pick them up - he said he'd leave them in the box on the front porch since he wouldn't be home. I get to his house just as its getting pretty dark --- this house is in a pretty snooty area - $2-3++ mil houses with FANTASTIC lake views --- and there I was poking around his front porch - that was all dec'd out with Xmas lights and deco - looking for the box.... It suddenly dawned on me that if a neighbor had seen me, they would most likely presume that I was a 'porch pirate' !!! I felt really weird about it.... I hadn't considered how a simple pickup could be misconstrued. I texted the guy to thank him and told him about it --- he got a good laugh over it too.

he extra button by the igniter that appears to go directly to the side of the manifold. I thought maybe that was added later but it is shown on picture on the owners manual. Maybe an emergency shut off or fuel prime if that's even a thing for LP.
I think that button is the same on the 5000 it was some kind of safety device. Almost all of them went bad many people bypassed it.

There is a thermocouple on those grille's that prevents the flow of gas until the thermocouple.Heats up to a certain degree. The button that controls it is a flame check button and you hold that button down while the thermocouple is heating up.So that gas keeps flowing. Once the thermocouple heats up, It will allow free full of gas and you can let go of the button.

I could be wrong Josh but I believe that is the flame check button

Yes discussed in this thread easily fixed with a brick on the 5000 or change out the manifold.

One thing for sure. I am honestly surprised some type of flame check device has not been mandated on ALL gas appliances regardless of where they are located.

That's what I figured the button most likely was but haven't seen it on a Jr. In America so I figured it must be regulation required where this Grill was sold.

Hey Bruce I just flew in to AZ for the holidays and went to my Grocery store. My seasonal Rib Roast sale is on. Not as cheep as last years $4.97 lb but 6.99 is still fantastic. I picked up about 20 lbs this year but I feel like I should get more while it's on sale. I had them cut the Rib Roast in to Steaks. I like a Rib Roast but I like Steaks even more. Just made a couple of them🔥🥩😋

Ribeyes, mushrooms and Asparagus. I can't think of a better dinner. I wish I could find prices like that around here.
I should pack a 30 lb rib roast in my carry-on bag when I had back to Washington LOL. I'm pretty cheap and honestly I don't even eat steak in Washington because I really like rib eye steaks best and I can't remember the last time I've seen them for under $20 per lb. In Washington. I'm sure I could find them a little cheaper and some discount store but not anywhere near what I get them for here.

Just got an early Christmas gift from the father in law. I posted the Facebook ad to the family text thread and said I wouldn't hate it. It was a $50 26" kettle. Cleaned up and looks nearly new! 2020 date code, extra space for the next brisket cook, I'm stoked! View attachment 123247View attachment 123248
Wow! What a cool gift! What a thoughtful father in law. Hope he likes brisket!
