Well I had a post ready to go until my computer froze and I lost it all, so I'll try again, down and dirty this time with info at the end.

I bought this 11.1 lb. bag at WalMart for $9.92.
It lights easy, has a pleasant woodsy smell when firing up, and not a lot of smoke (that I could see in the darkness)
The ash level is really low compared to regular or pro/comp and more gray in color.
I can't speak for the longer burn time claim yet, but I like everything about it except for the price.

Thanks for viewing!

Here's the char-basket this morning after I left vents open for it to burn out.

Thanks for the review of the new charcoal Bob. Will keep my eyes open for it around here. That is so frustrating to lose a post. I've had success with salvaging the post, even after getting dumped completely out of the website by opening a new window to rewrite my post and using the "Restore Auto-Saved Content" button that appears in the lower left hand corner as soon as your cursor hits the script area. Anyway, your Chuck Eyes and plate look fantastic!

Some dang good looking Chucks, Bob. That isn't much ash left in the tray. That charcoal could prove to be ideal for our Mini SJ's that often get choked out on ash. Thanks for the heads up

Thanks for the info Bob. Chuck eyes look great. I might not get to try the new stuff, as I'm too cheap to pay almost $1/lb for charcoal.

Cook looks good.

Will be interesting to try the longer burn fuel. I guess if its more expensive, but lasts longer as claimed maybe the cost is a wash. I haven't seen any in my neck of the woods yet. I'll a try a bag in the mini-wsms if I can find some.

someone once told me that outdoor cooking is an INexpensive hobby.

and i simply smiled, knowing she had no idea what in the world she was talking about.

Bob, as always, your chuck eyes look FANTASTIC!
Thank you for the quick wrap-up on the new bag of coal.

By the way, seems like you do use your baskets quite a bit... you may want to look into those new stainless baskets...
i have a set and to this day, they still look new. Well worth the cost.

Thanks for the write up Bob. That charcoal may be great for my SJ mini as it doesn't have a lot of room for the ash on long cooks. Just now starting to use stubs which I like for longer cooks like the Christmas turkey on the performer.
Those chuck eyes look great we really like them but hard to come by around here.

Rich, I see your point, makes seriously good sense to me!
Yep, Bob, time for some of the 304 baskets! I've used mine probably four times a week since my birthday in August, they still look new!

With that steak, you made it look like you've been cooking over that charcoal for years. Nicely done.

Thanks for the link for those shiny baskets, I'll have to order a set. Bob, great steaks!!! Thanks for the feedback on the charcoal I haven't seen them in my stores yet.

wow that photo of the two chuck eyes on the grill would make a beautiful desktop photo for me except then my real desk would be covered in drool. Great lookin cook, Bob!

Nice review, Bob. Thanks.

Will have to give the new stuff a try. Though agree with others here that paying up to $1/pound for charcoal is a bit much.

I'm still used to $.25/lb at the sales for KBB. My Jumbo Joe is less tolerant of large ash buildups, so it may be an alternate to Stubbs when I use the JJ.
