Missed a lot of stuff the past week or so, took my #1 Son on his first Fly Fishing adventure. Took him to the classic Wild trout waters I fished for many decades. NY State, Western Catskills, the original home of Fly Fishing in the U.S. The Beaver Kill, the Willowemac, the east and west branch of the Delaware River. Got told about a hidden gem of a State Land that few but locals know of and had 900 acres to ourselves for fishing and a wilderness camp site. Thank God for Dodge toughness and four wheel drive, it was worth it. Had miles of Trout water to ourselves and camping free and all alone.

He has turned out to be a good man, I got to show him the famous Trout waters I have fished and spent four days and nights with just him and I around a campfire. You learn a lot about each other over good cigars, Ribeyes on the coals and a few cocktails. Some shots from the West Branch of the Delaware River.

Thought I would share, Fathers Day is this weekend and this Father just had a good week

What a great trip and great dad! I'm sure you both had a blast and will never forget that time together.
 
Thanks for sharing your trip with your son. Looks like you had the perfect spot and some good times. Used to fly fish in the High Sierras near Bishop California, whole different experience with a fly rod. Caught more trees then fish though, but I was an expert at making wind knots.
 
Bill you sir are doing my favorite thing in one of my favorite places, with the exception of Montana. I envy you sharing that with your son. Both of mine are not interested but Nancy my wife, makes up for that. She enjoys fly fishing probably more than I do. Thanks so very much for sharing these.
 
Very nice post Bill. I can certainly understand your pride. Sounds like you had a wonderful, nostalgic time. Sure is some beautiful country. Thank you for sharing your trip, especially on this Father's Day Weekend.

Thanks for sharing Bill - that's just a great thing to be able to do that from a lot of different perspectives. Beautiful pictures and I am sure an amazing few days with good food, drink and most importantly quality time. My boys are quite young - but I have a goal to do the same with them when they get older. Happy Father's Day.
