With special thanks to @ramsfan for the heads up in the Online Finds section. I returned from vacation to find ramsfan's post about a brand new Ranch just a couple of hours south of me in Bowling Green, KY. I had gone way over budget on the vacation, so I resigned myself to the notion that I'd have to let a golden opportunity pass on by. The next evening (Tuesday), I said "OH HELL NO" and called the seller leaving a voicemail and also emailed him. The next morning (Wednesday), he called me back.

As the ad stated, the Ranch was brand new and seller was asking $450. I asked if he would take any less. He replied with "Umm, are you familiar with the grill I'm selling ?" I chuckled and said "Oh yeah, most definitely. I went on to say that it was a great price (more than fair) and that if he was here in Louisville, I'd have already been at his front door. But, with time and gas, I'd have to pass at his asking price.

He followed up in reply saying "How about $375?" I answered with, "SOLD, I can be there in about 3 hours"

Turns out that day didn't work into his schedule. Ended up arranging to me on Friday (today) around Noon. He promised that it was mine no matter what.

So, I hopped in the van this morning and made my way South. Met the seller at his house and shot the breeze with him a bit. He's not into grilling at all that I could make out. He picked up the Ranch on an auction site with the hopes of flipping it. He seemed to get a kick out of how stoked I was over getting the Ranch. We got her loaded up in my van and I headed out towards home.

Here are the pics I have so far.

Absolutely brand spanking new!!!!

More pics to follow tomorrow or Sunday.

Welcome to the ranch kettle club Dave! What a steal you got to and Brand New. Looks like it barely fit in the van!

I got mine about 6 months or so ago for 375. Only used about 4 times but the seller knew what he had so no talking him down. You'll love that grill even if your only cooking a few hamburgers.

What's the first cook going to be? Oh and since your the newest member of the ranch kettle owner's club you gotta buy the beer at the next get together ;)

Thanks everyone !! Haven't decided on the first cook yet. That might have to wait as the guy I picked it up from put the lid support on backwards. Looks like I have to remove a hubcap, slide the axle out and reverse the support arm.

Great deal! Welcome to the club. I love my ranch kettle. When I first got it my 8 year old daughter wanted lunch and I wanted to use my new grill. So, I cooked her a couple of hot dogs on it. It was pretty comical with all that real estate to cook on and there sat two little hot dogs. Needless to say I've maxed it out a few times since then and I absolutely love it as I'm sure you will to. Congratulations!

Thanks Ken! That's hilarious. I saw a pic either here or over at WKC where someone did a cook like that on their ranch. Kind of halfway considered having my first cook me a single Little Smokey next to a single meat ball pressed down into a little slider. :D

Bought a Ranch (not bought the Ranch) in 2007 brand new and have never looked back. How did i ever cook without it???? Amazingly you can use one chimney and cook just like you do on a 22" but with TONS of Real Estate to move multiple foods around at different temps.

Having said that and having the weber disease i did just buy a Performer Deluxe 'just because' everyone should have a 22" weber!

Wow! Wow! WOW! Congrats to you, you must be living right! :) :ranchkettle:

Nice pick up Dave sometimes you just have to drive a bit for the great deals, can not wait to see the cooking action photos.

Ben fatto!

Congrats Dave. Having a Ranch in the stable is like having a Z06 in the garage

Thanks all!! I definitely must be living right as my great week just got even better. I just picked this up today.

O.P.
I'm absolutely GREEN EYED with envy (not really:rolleyes:), just happy to see a Forum member get what he wanted. It looks like you will know how to use it, too!

Great score!
Keep on smokin',

Thanks Robert. I'm completely stoked about picking up 2 grills on bucket list, the 26'er and the RK. As for knowing how to use them, the 26'er shouldn't be too much of a learning curve, but I'll be a born again noob with the RK. It's just such a different beast of a grill. Definitely looking forward to learning how to cook on it.

Nice collection!
I think I need more real estate to increase my herd too much but, a 26 is causing an itch. A Ranch would be grand but, I don't know that I could justify spending that much time with the grills! My wife would be jealous.
