    Franklin Turkey Breasts

In the spirit of doing something different, I’m going to do the Franklin Barbecue turkey breast this year. I found a natural (but frozen) bone in turkey breast. I’ll butcher that today and get it ready for the cook tomorrow. This whole turkey thing is crazy. No one in the family likes it and...

    Help with buying a rotisserie.

I have a Genesis S320. I searched on the Weber site at it looks like it’s a 2007-2010 model (model # 3780001). I’m looking to get a rotisserie for it and have two questions. Mainly I’m just trying to make sure a get one that fits (with no modifications). The Weber site directed me to...

    Michigan > Livonia: Bad Brads

This restaurant just opened. I think there is at least one other Bad Brads in Michigan but I have not eaten at any of the others. The Livonia site was very good but on the high end as far as pricing. Still, we ordered it for a family get together and everyone enjoyed it. It’s similar to...

Will alcohol boil off during a cook?

I’m going to do a Dutch oven corned beef. I want to use Guinness beer, but I have a kidney disease and I’m not supposed to have alcohol. Will the alcohol boil off during the cook? FWIW, alcohol will not drastically impact me, but the drs recommended I don’t drink.

Corned Beef for St Paddy’s Day

Is there a significant difference in various corned beef products? I’ve typically just go to my local Kroger and get something on sale. I’m wondering if there‘s better options that I would actually be able to tell the difference in. I saw a corned beef today at Kroger that was from Boar’s...

How to do low and slow chicken

We never eat the skin of chicken except for when I eat wings. So, I don’t care if the skin come out rubbery. I’m looking for advice on how to get the chicken to be moist. I have a couple cut up chickens (pieces - breasts, thighs and drumsticks) and was thinking to cook them low and slow, but...

    Rib Fail Today

I did some ribs, baby backs, and invited the daughter and son in law over for dinner. The ribs weren’t bad, but they had the membrane still on. I was a bit embarrassed. Last night when I was prepping the ribs, I could not find the membrane to pull. I figured they must have already been...

    Coleslaw for pulled pork sandwich

Looking for some help to dial in out coleslaw recipe. I pulled some pork and made sandwiches and DW made coleslaw, but it just didn’t hit the mark. Not bad, but I felt like it needed something. Not sure if it needed more tang, like more vinegar, or maybe some different spices for some...

Ten to twelve hour butt help.

I haven’t done a butt for some time and I’m not up to dealing with a 15+ hour overnight cook. Any good ideas to get it down to around 10 hours? I’d like to wake up early and have the butt for dinner. If I can start it by 5am and eat by 5pm, that would be great. Thinking a ten hour cook and a...

    Corned Beef

Not sure the best place to post this because I won’t likely be using my Weber for corned beef. We didn’t get to cook it on St. Paddy’s day So I was thinking of cooking it this weekend. I’m looking for a good way to cook corned beef. I have a nice Dutch oven but all the recipes I look at...

Injected Turkey Breast - Bone In

Family and I only like white meat turkey so I just get bone in turkey breast. I don’t even try to get them fresh or natural and this year I didn’t even think about it. All I cared about was getting one, which I did. Of course, it’s injected. I think it said 15% salt solution. I read the...

    Wow! Meat prices.

I guess I've been eating out of my freezer for too long or maybe finding some great deals, but I just went to the meat market today to get a chuck roast and I was shocked. Almost $10lb. This isn't the cheapest place, so I'm sure there's less expensive meat, but still, at about 3 pounds for a...

    Copper Grill Mats

Wondering if anyone has ever use the copper grilling mats and what you though about them. We had a little cook out after our golf league and the guy cooking used one. Looked like a pretty good utensil for a quick cook - burgers and dogs. Also, if you looked into them, is there one that is...

    Thermapen One

Wondering what you all think of the new Thermapen One. While the technology to read in one second is impressive, I don’t think I’m impressed with it enough to upgrade my MK4. In fact, if I was in the market (I’m not), I think I’d get the MK4 on sale while they close that out. I think it’s a...

    Never too late

The ribs are on. Let belated Smoke Day begin. Got the 1880 out. Firing it up with some B&B lump that I got on sale at Ace thanks to a heads up from this forum. I light my chimney with some Stubbs briquettes. I like to use briquettes in the chimney. I use the wash bucket to keep my...

    I’m a slacker.

I didn’t do anything today except grill some bscb for dinner. We had wonderful weather (cool but sunny), so we did yard work and will be smoking some ribs tomorrow. I got some baby backs in the fridge and I’m going to try a sugarless rub I found on this site. Trying to cut down on the sugar...

Any simple ham enhancements for Easter?

Not too long ago, I found a recipe on this site, posted by Chris, to add some simple ingredients to a can of baked beans and enhance them. I mean, it wasn’t Keri’s baked beans, but for the time and effort, a welcome improvement over just out of the can. Wondering if anyone has a similar hack...

    Pork butt prices

I’ve been pulling from the freezer lately but it’s time to restock. What’s a good price for pork butts these days. I see a local ad for $1.79lb. I’m wondering if there’s any point in waiting for a better price. Shopping has been so different these past months, that I’m doubtful any real...

    Out of practice

I haven't been smoking for awhile. So, when I saw some ribs on sale, I bought them and figured on smoking them today in the little Weber. All good until I actually got the fire going. Right after I got the ribs on it started to rain. Okay, I can handle that, got a piece of plywood and put it...
