You know you're getting old when...

I got caught with the age thing about 10 days ago. Misstepped and badly sprained my ankle. Iced it right away and all seemed OK until 5 days later when the swelling really started and wouldn't stop. Thankfully I have an ankle aircast (me and Mahomes!). Wearing the boot for 3 days is helping, but still no fun. Cane helps too -- but talk about knowing you're getting old!
Rich, so sorry to hear that. Hope everything is ok now. Please keep us posted.

Thanks, Joan. Yes, I am doing better after wearing the boot all day and elevating my foot for several hours every night. Also saw my doc and got an x-ray that showed no break. So he says keep doing boot, elevating and icing for two weeks (3/15) and see how it goes. We'll, I'm following that advice religiously (see "doing better" above) because Apr 1 we start on a 7-day Caribbean cruise -- want to be able to walk decently.

Some ask why the Caribbean, there's so many other options. I love the islands, the cultures, the history, the mystique and old time Jimmy Buffet and Bob Marley. It's our first time away since covid and we want to make the most of it. Wonderful suite, two new islands of BVI and Dom Rep plus St Thomas for fun. I don't know if I can use the included unlimited drink package-- but I can try!

Add to all this our new house last month and just today getting a contract on our much loved previous place, it's time to simply enjoy. Dream a little dream with me...

Brother in law has just realized that he is suffering from a miserable gout attack! Hard headed and has put off seeing the doctor for a week when he REALLY needs to go!
That when you know “Someone” is really old(and hard headed)!

Yes -- get to a good rheumatologist! Totally related. I spent years suffering through periodic episodes of gout. Completely unnecessary. My last attack was more than 20 years ago. The drug "allopurinol" is the perfect preventative. I fear a possible lack of allopurinol far more than any of my heart and blood pressure meds.

And a brief "old" update. More when it done. Ankle I largely ok now -- feels much better. Still icing evenings and being careful.

W expect to close on the sale of our previous house on Friday. At 75, I guess it not to late for change and a new path. Hell, my MIL will be 100 this weekend!

Rich, I'll be 75 next month and I'm not giving up yet. Although it's starting to become an uphill battle. The worst part is not being able to do the things I did as little as a few years ago. But still moving forward.

Definitely get that, Rich! We're doing our first big trip (Caribbean cruise) since covid for our 54th. It's different planning when walking is limited due to back issues. But feel fortunate that the ankle responded -- though slowly. Moving forward.

Yup, not especially young (!!) and some waning of interests, but happy for special things like this forum!
