Weber Genesis 1000 Restore Project

Yah, that was my suggestion as well. That way, you could probably swap out the cook box as well and not worry about patching the hole in it.
Ironically, I am picking up a free 1000 tomorrow. I had sworn off picking up any more 1000's, but this on has been sitting on FB MP for three days looking dejected and sad for three days, and I was getting worried it was destined for the land fill. It is only about 30 miles or say away, so not too far.

Cool! Looks in decent shape!

I'm more mad at myself for not checking the fit before putting the parts up for grabs. Actually my wife is giving me more crap than I'm giving myself so there is that too!

I have a complete 1000 frame just sitting in my back yard. Has the usual rust on the left side rail but is otherwise solid. But, getting it to CT would cost an arm and a leg
I may be able to help. I am a logistics consultant by day and shipping is my life. If you PM me your address, weight and dims of the box (this last one was about 6lbs and 20x17x5 inches when in the box) I can send you a label to use under my shipping account. IL to CT i think is a zone 5, so a tad more than the gentlemen I sent from CT to NY, but I can check the numbers

So you think basically break it down? What about the wheels? Leave them on it? Later I will shoot some photos of it and pm them to you

Larry, I think gary is only interested in the right hand table part of the frame.
Correct, the right side frame where the control panel sits. The rest of my frames for both genesis 1k's are in good shape. Really appreciate everyones help! Looking forward to the photos.

Yah, he just needs the frame parts from a 1000 on the right side. Basically the part of the frame under the control panel.
Yes. The part that looks like this. When you measure it left to right on the grill it is 18" wide. In this picture though it measures 18" up and down.

For the record, the Weber 900 version is 17" wide.

The latest update.

- Had to drill out the burner mounting screws as the originals were rusted inside it.

- Installed new stainless burners

- Cleaned and lubricated the manifold valves and installed the new POL regulator. No leaks per the soapy spray. One valve was seized due to a bent pin. Straightened it out. All good. Cleaned with brake cleaner and lubbed with the brake lube. I did paint the manifold and clean the rust off too

- Cleaned and painted the frame/cookbox semi gloss black high heat. Ran out of that and did flat black for the upper frame for now till I get more semi gloss.

- IT LIVES! I adjusted the air dampers to get a nice blue flame. Its coming along great!

- Next step is to cleanup/restore the tank scale. I'll be tackling the handle and wood shelves after the mechanical and correct frame piece is complete.

Till the next update!
