Agreed, some areas are fairly worn. That will be on the wish list to find some cast iron gratesThose grates are looking a bit thin.
Always been comfy with CI. SS I know there are advantages. The OEM part# for CI is 7526, which is replaced by #7638. Stainless rod one is #7639.Consider some Stainless steel rod grates unless you just really like Cast Iron.
You are absolutelyGary, you can find SS solid rod grates much less expensive than $99.
This is a pretty stout set for $75: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00TG3AXOU/?tag=tvwb-20
Or you could go with very serviceable ones for much cheaper: Like under $30: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B083QPHF5N/?tag=tvwb-20
I have a set of CI grates I could sell you, but the dang shipping would be $25 alone.
Ordered the under $30 set you linked to! Will be here before the snow we are supposed to get this Friday...DOH!I have had those. They are good in their class. But I think the ones I linked to are cheaper. Either will serve you fine and are pretty much maintenance free. Just scrap them off once in a while. No need to oil them and season them and all that.
They are very decent - especially for the bargain priceOrdered the under $30 set you linked to! Will be here before the snow we are supposed to get this Friday...DOH!
That's thinking ahead! Replacing the grates six years before buying grill! On my 1998 genesis 1000 I bought new it had porcelain coated cast iron grates that lasted about three years. I replaced them around 1992 with solid CI grates that are still on the grill today and look like new.
I'm always planning aheadThat's thinking ahead! Replacing the grates six years before buying grill!
