I was anxious to try their special recipe French sausage, but wanted to grill them myself so I bought fresh.

Sausage looks good. Love the dip. I'm not sure what's going on at that event. People are in period dress but only kind of half-assed, modern tennis shoes, etc.

I'm kind of assuming that at her age, and stirring apple butter all day, she needed some form of comfort.

Hard to call that "half-assed"....
my mother-in-law volunteered with the folks at Old World Wisconsin, where she too, dressed in the threads from the period complete with shoes.... however, they were given the option to wear their shoes if they felt it was needed. Darcy, at the time, was probably 65 or 70 (she's now 91 and still very active) and opted to wear her own after one day of wearing the original leathers.

I love sausage, pork, beef, fowl, marine proteins, most things outdoors, fresh air scented with coking anything, good fungus, beer, wine, spirits.....

Wow! way to go Bob! I wish I could have been there, as a professional Frenchman I'm sure I would have fitted right in! That sausage sure looks tasty, is it a Toulouse sausage by any change? These are the best, really powerful taste with garlic in it! Sadly I struggle to find good quality Toulouse sausage in London but if and when I find some I'll cook a cassoulet on the kettle in a skillet and will share with y'all.
