The harissa sound like a great ingredient for a marinade. I have it in the fridge now. It would probably be a great addition to a homebrew BBQ sauce. We will be celebrating with a 1/2 loin of pork, considering a harissa marinade but, not sure yet. Unsure about sides myself.
SWMBO suggested cauliflower I just am not sold on anything, it’s been an odd week.
True comfort foodThat's about how I make them.
Thank you for that pic and recipe. My family roots go back to Texas. Mom always cooked green beans, limas, and black eyes on New Year’s Day.That's about how I make them.
2 Lbs fresh green beans
1 Lb bacon diced
2 c water
1 Tbsp sugar
1/2 tsp freshly ground black pepper
1 lg onion thinly sliced
Brown the bacon till crisp. Add the onion and cook till caramelized.
Drain as much fat off as you like, mix the sugar, pepper with the water till well incorporated.
Add that to the bacon, onion mixture and bring to a boil, all the while scrapping the bottom of the pan with a wooden spoon.
Add the green beans, and simmer for a few hrs uncovered.

Just took 12lb brisket out of the Smokin-it and it’s hanging out in a 160 degree oven. And of course, it was done at 3:30 AM. Feeding starts at noon.
Sides are watermelon fries, bbq beans, and Caesar salad. Ice cream sandwiches made with home made cookies for dessert.
