I have never used lump and bought some Cowboy Lump on sale to give it a try. Cowboy sure gets some bad reviews but I noticed in one post that Jim Lampe uses it with success, and I figured he knows what he is doing.
Let's get started.

Looks a lot different than briquettes.

It also takes a lot more to build a fire.

I ended up adding some more before I got started.

Shrimp with EVOO and Weber's Cajun Seasoning.

When the lump was ready I threw the shrimp on the fire.

Cooking.

Just about done.

Plated with some steamed cauliflower and jasmine rice with some Tiger sauce.

Food was great. I learned a couple of things about lump. It takes more to build the fire and I'm probably going to add another charcoal grate just because some of the smaller pieces will fall through the grate. All in all I was happy with the results. I have 2 bags of the Cowboy Lump so we'll see how the rest of the cooks turn out, so far so good. I can't wait to build a big old lump fire and sear some steaks. Thanks for looking.
