We all know Rich needs a Vortex for his arsenal so I am starting this challenge. If we all post pictures like mine I think we can encourage Barb to give in.
I'll go first. Let's get Rich a Vortex.

Nobody NEEDS a vortex. I hacked the same technique over the weekend with a cut down coffee can. Working on a more durable hack to test this weekend for CAD $20.00

Stay tuned...

Darren, we don't NEED most of this stuff true but, give a guy a break, the Bobs and Tony told me I need one!
I understand the "hack" mentality and do it often myself but, I don't have acces to much metalworking equipment. I do have a cousin though, now that I think about it, hmmm.
Maybe I can get him to make me a 304 stainless chimney.....AND a vortex copy and,....

Barb, you are a great sport and a very kind person to put up with all of us for this long. Can't wait to see who uses the Vortex more, you or Rich. Can't wait to see the results of your first cook with it. You and Rich are two of the people on this site that make it worthwhile and so much fun and the two of you are always there to help others. Thank-you!!

Rich, that roast is the perfect colour. Nothing more I can say.
Barb, those sides look gorgeous. Gonna try that scalloped spud recipe.

I think I may have subliminally tipped the balance in the Roast Beast In The Back Of The Freezer thread.
Rich looks happy.

Well played Barb. You're a good sport. ;)

Now get vortex-ing the both of you!!

Darren, go to Walmart, buy a stainless steel bowl and cut it down to size. I bought 2, (a small and a large) and now I have one for my performer and my SJG. Total for both, around $15. Good luck, and keep us posted on the progress.

Tim, that's a great idea, I know I have a hacksaw somewhere!
Did you turn the bowl upside down on the coal grate and mark where to cut or what? I have the "Gourmet grate". so that makes a lot of sense to me!
Sounds like a trip to Wally World is in order!

Timothy,
I actually looked back at some of the previous posts about the vortex and found where someone had posted the measurements for the large size. I just cut the bowl to fit those measurements and bingo-bango, it's a vortex! If I can find the measurements, I'll pm them to ya.
