Friday Night Tri Tip

Hadn't had Tri Tip for a month or so. Decided to fix that.

Picked up a couple of nice ones at Costco. About two lbs. each.

Getting aired out.

Seasoned with Adam's Reserve Prime Rib and Steak Rub.

For the sides I did a couple of nice bakers and acorn squash.

Got the TT going. Seared over direct high heat for about 4 minutes.

Flipped and seared the other side as well for another 4 minutes.

Moved the meat over to indirect to finish the cook, about an additional 30 minutes. Moved into the kitchen to rest.

Bakers and squash almost done. Flipped to cut side up on the squash and applied a nice brown sugar, butter and chopped almond glaze to the flesh.

Slices. Nice and juicy. Meat was so tender. Cooked a tad longer than I wanted but it was still delicious.

Nothing can screw up a decent post better than a crappy closing picture! Sorry about the blur. Anyway, you get the idea. Aside from that, this was a delicious meal. Probably the best Tri Tip I've ever had and I've been cooking them for years. Thanks for looking.

That is some insane looking TT Cliff! We were at Costco today, and I couldn't find any TT < $40
You blackened it perfectly and the center is as good as it gets, that's what BBQ is all about. Congrats

Cliff, WOW!!! That is one awesome TT and the sides perfect. Final pic tells the true story spot on.

To die for! One of these days I will have to try a prime tri-tip. The marbling on the ones you bought looks great.
Love the squash & taters, too.

Tasty looking tri tip! I was just at Cash & Carry and noticed that the price has dropped!!! now I just need to clear some freezer space so I can grab a bulk bag!
