First Annual TVWBB Upper Midwest Meet is a GO

Dang, looks like I missed a good time. I had every intention of being there but wound up having to do some family stuff instead.

Are the organizers already kicking around possible dates and locations for next year? ;)
Brad, yes we have begun talking about possible time frames for next year, but no specific dates yet. We probably won't be settling on a firm date for a while yet, but I think by the end of summer, we will have more on that. If you or anyone has any suggestions, let us know.

We definitely had a great time, but we also learned a few things that should help make Upper Midwest 2.0 even better. Stay tuned!

Also, I believe I can speak for Bruce in saying how much we appreciated the friendliness everyone exhibited and all the help attendees gave. A special thanks from me to Lisa Schafer for timely, quick help with getting my ribs prepped when a lot else was also going on😇.

Lisa, and Alex- the wife of James Villa -were both great sports and didn’t let being outnumbered by guys bother them at all. Next year I hope more spouses can come along.

Tony, I have his email address if you want to contact him. Message me if you want it.
Bruce

Sorry for the delay, have been driving all day with the Father's Days festivities.

I didn't take too many pictures of the people, as I was engrossed with all the happenings of the Meet Up.

**Not shown is Bruce and I had to dump the hot water, because we forgot to add the acetone while the water was cool). We asked for a re-creation of Bruce's previous video (see: Rit Dye on Control Knobs), but he said no.

Alex, great pictures with captions.
Chris: The location was great and pretty remote. It is totally separate from the main State Park. You have to leave the main park and drive 3 miles or so to get to the picnic area.
Kelly: I hope you and several others make it to the next one. It was a good time.

Bruce,
I really liked seeing you using your new dye pan. How did that work out for you all. Did you have great results with that?

Yep, the dye demo went off great. I dyed about 7 or 8 lid handles, about 15 or so end handles and probably 30 knobs and igniter buttons.

We should have some great photos and even videos of the meet once Mike Lang posts up the footage that he took.

Brian,
I will let James answer that but will say we were all very impressed with the Traveler. Looks great, folds up nice and cooks perfectly. It was fun to have the extremes of a brand new Weber Traveler and a 30 year old Weber XXI (later called the Jr.) at the same event! Wish you could have been there; I would have had that blue hood for you😎!

Man that looks good, James how are you liking the Traveler thinking about getting one for my daughter.
I really like it, I've used it only a total of 3 times, 2 of those were at home and this was the 3rd.
The small 1lb propane tank lasts a few hours, the first one that I used lasted thru 30 minutes of the highest setting for the initial burn off plus a 45 min and 30 min cooks.

I started with a full 1lb tank for the meet up and cooked 3 times with it and there is still some left. All 3 cooks were 20-30 min cooks, I think, of course it all depends on wind, temp and cook with the lid open or closed.

That day was the first time that I used the Cargo Protector and had a little issue.
Between moving it around inside of the car trunk and taking the grill and cover out of the trunk at the location, the latch disengaged. When I stood the grill upright the lid opened and the grates fell out. Luckily the fall wasn't bad and there was no issues.

Next year Jon, Fathers Day is kind of tough as my family for the time being is all local so it was a nice day on Sunday and of course I am a huge US Open fan so fun having my daughters, son in law, wife watching it with me kind of. As I said before we had a birthday celebration the day before so just was not a good weekend for me.

James, I don't think that is bad on fuel considering the size of it. Cooking 3 times at 20-30 minutes with a bit left sounds pretty good actually, not for her anyway its their main grill they have a 1000 I built for them its just a beach deal or whatever by the lake when they daytrip they have a boat drop it in for the day then cook some burgers and dogs.
