First Annual TVWBB Upper Midwest Meet is a GO

In the mean time, you guys should come out to the Midwest Meet and get some pointers.

Thanks Boss! I’d love to come but, I can’t make it either, already committed to three things then one changed to the following week, I never knew what the heck will happen anymore, between all kinds of family commitments and who knows what. I just can’t make it. I’m very happy to the whole thing roll out nicely! Congratulations to Bruce and the rest of the organizers.

I hear ya bro

Hey everyone, we are a week out from the date we have been looking forward to for a long time. We are almost there. As of right now, the weather forecast looks great, but as we know, that can change quick this time of year.

So, anyway, Jon is bringing a CharQ and a Kettle grill to the meet. I am bringing a Q200 and a Genesis Jr. I think those 4 grills will be enough to cook dogs and burgers for everyone. If someone else wants to bring a grill, you are welcome to, but you will be free to use the grills we bring as long as they are not being used for a demo. We plan to supply some ground beef and dogs and maybe some brats and/or sausage for everyone. We will also bring some bottled water and soft drinks. If you have other meats or veggies that you want to cook, bring it. If you have a preferred beverage, you are welcome to bring that as well.

We also would like to ask that if you can bring a side dish, that would be welcome. If you don't have time or don't want to deal with whipping something up to bring, we could always use some bags of chips and the like. We have 13 registered attendees along with the photographer/author that will be attending. We could wind up with a couple extra bodies as well.

Keep an eye on this thread as we will post developing news and updates as June 19th approaches.

PS: Cross your fingers on Mother Nature giving us a favorable weather situation.

Bruce & Jon

Well, fiddlesticks! My plan has gone sideways, I got caught up with other obligations and forgot to get up to see Chris about the sausages, I’m hanging my head in shame, didn’t realize it until this morning! Crap in a hat!
Sorry guys.

Timothy:
We appreciate the intentions, but it won't be a problem at all. We are good.
Summer is a busy time and it seems this one is busier than normal.

Thanks Bruce,
There has been some unwelcome “activity” at my sister in laws place (stolen lawn tractor) so in the interest of safety, I removed the electronics from the place before someone decided to kick in the door and steal them. Now, I have to find room here for them. I hope you all have a great time, the weather is going to be perfect, I have full faith in that!

I was originally tentatively planning to come. But I just can't due to a major project at work. Hope it's a huge success.

James, I and many others will be very interested in checking out your traveler.

Greg, sorry you won't be able to make it this year.

With that said, we are still open to new people signing up. So if you find you have the time next Saturday and want to come out, you are welcome.

Bruce,
I have been following this thread, and trying to make time to attend. I am only 18 miles from the event, but have a graduation party for my godson 50 miles the other direction. I’m also not sure what we’re doing for my 93-year-old father-in-law next weekend for Father’s Day. I’m a charcoal guy; not a gasser, but I’ve admired your and Jon’s posts in the gas grill section. I appreciate the effort that you guys have put into this event and I’m still figuring out a way to make it work. The link did not work for me, but I’d like to pay for 2 spots for Me & the Mrs. in case we can at least stop by. Please let me know how to pre-pay.

I have a stainless plate that’s 13-3/4x 16-1/4 that I could bring. Might be good for smash burger demos.

This meetup goes for quite a long time. Shouldn’t we be smoking up some ribs or something that takes a bit longer than burgers and sausage? I mean, for God’s sakes, I’d hate for that photographer to display some burger and sausage pics. 🤓

I’m guessing he’ll see and respond when he logs in. I see they have electricity at the site. I could bring a rotisserie if we had something to put on it…
