For a lot of people Russ who could not care less about golf until Tiger came along the reason those pros are making the money they are today is because of Tiger Woods. Perfect man no but never seen a better golfer and I love Jack but in those days the competion was no where what it is today because there were not many players from overseas who could afford to come and play in the US.

Ben Hogan won one British Open the only one he ever played in some would argue he was the greatest golfer of all time cause he was in a horrifying car accident and made a comeback If the story as I remember it he actually lost money going over there to play never went back again
 
No denying that he brought a ton of excitement and viewership to the game. Great to watch. Hate to see the stuff that happened to him, self inflicted or not, happen to anyone.
 
I think he will be the next Tony Romo. He will move to announcing and be able to call the game like no other because he knows it so well.
 
Love Tiger, I just hope he can play with his kids. His career was plenty good😕, hopefully he has many rounds he can drive a cart and pass the game to Charlie.

my thoughts... at least til he gets bored.
in my opinion, NO ONE can replay Jim Nance and Nick Faldo.

I refuse to have volume on when FoxSports broadcasts golf.... their "top" announcer is simply miserably inadequate at announcing (anything).
 
I give Tiger a 2 stroke penalty, that SUV was way outa bounds.....To Soon....
Love him or hate him he brought a lot of eyes to golf.
Jim Nance and Nick Faldo are perfect together.
 
Huge golf fan, and I tend to agree with Chris here-don't bet again him for sure, but a tough road ahead. Jim, I think most of the broadcasts are good-each is unique in their own way. I do like Nantz-"hello friends!"-great story teller and knowledge of the game. Not a fan of "snippy Nicky" as they called him on tour. I could see Mickelson replacing him no problem. Fox has its moments, and sometimes you cringe at comments from Zinger-but he's honest. Its all sports entertainment.

Fox had to do that because they had the NFL and since everything including the Masters was pushed out no way they were giving up the NFL. If Covid had not happened delaying the golf events they would have kept it. Personally the USGA was hunting for more money when they went to Fox not sure what the NBC deal was maybe the same maybe less who knows.

To me Woods doesn't have TV-level charisma and can come across as cold and standoffish, unlike guys like Gary McCord and David Feherty (even though they weren't top-echelon golfers).

That being said, he's really lucky to be alive and has a long, tough road ahead of him, and I hope he recovers at least enough to live a pretty normal life. But I suspect he's going to suffer a lot of chronic ailments from here on out.

Hope he gets better. I'm not a fan, of golf or him, so don't really care in that regard.

He doesn't need to work fortunately. I expect his high level golf days are over.
Life changes in an instant, casting aside the best laid plans. Certainly did for my parents when mom had a severe stroke, then dad had cancer. It will happen to.......most of us.
 
I'm not a golf fan either. That said, his injuries are really serious and it will take a long time until he recovers. His playing days are likely over, especially when you take into account his prior back surgeries, etc. I do hope that he recovers to the point that he can lead a relatively normal life, but as has been mentioned already, he may suffer from multiple chronic conditions post-recovery.
 
Wow, I didn't even know the dude was a professional golfer. I thought he retired years back. But when it comes to golf, its a toss up of which is more boring. Golf or baseball. I can find alot more exciting things to do besides watching those 2 sports. Personally, I'm waiting for the NFL draft. I love that stuff. Long live the nfl.
