Why are you judging them as "stupid"? I remember those protests quite well. Many did simply "rip them off". I hardly would have called them stupid.

Tabasco
Worcestershire sauce
A-1 steak sauce
salt
pepper

Fill a large tumbler with ice and vodka. Throw all the other ingredients away.
