I had two of those remotes. Did not work as well as they aged.
I remember the very first remote controls...they were mechanical and worked on a sonic principle. A hammer would strike a tuning rod inside the remote and cause the channel to change or the volume to go up or down...of course, jingling your car keys or some other sound produced within that frequency would cause the same action. As kids we would jingle some keys and try to get the TV to change channels...we thought that was hilarious.
