Spatchcock Chicken

Never done a spatchcock chicken before, but with all the guys doing on the forum, I had to give it a shot (glad I did)

I picked up a new (30 year old) redhead. I've always wanted a redhead and finally got one. Picked it up local from a guy known as "cuda dan" good guy, maybe can get him to join the forum, he's got enough Webers to shake a stick at

Anyway, on with the cook

Thirty hours later, onto the redhead

ChuckO;
That chicken has certainly met it's match!! Good lookin' bird, my man!!

Tell us how you liked the Jerk Marinade, please!

Loved the pictures and the smoke...

Keep on smokin',

Thanks everyone, it was fun to finally get a spatchcock under my belt. I needed more heat, the skin wasn't what I hoped for, but the meat under the skin was really good. I'll do another spatchcock cook again.

Chuck, that's a fantastic looking chicken you nail that for sure.
You did good on old RED! :redmastertouch:

So this is what you did after the rainout! Glad you used your time wisely. Great looking chicken Chuck, beautiful job. Like the score on the Red too.

Beautiful chicky to go with a beautiful grill! I have not tried to spatchcock as of yet, but it's on my list with all my kids coming home (all at once) for my birthday next month. Picked up a rotti on the very cheap for the Genesis C last month at True Value ($30) and it has quickly become my go to for whole chicken! Now, I just need a rotti for my OTG, and I'm set!
So glad the redhead found a great home! She is a beaut, Clark!

I was so bummed, I was all set too. Hung the TV outside and everything, looking forward to a lazy Sunday afternoon watching the Giants. Playin' the boys of Blue tonight, Timmy on the mound....GO GIANTS

Hey Chuck, I tried that marinade the other night on some wings and blended in 2 habaneros for heat and I agree the flavor was disappointing. Now I need to find Walkerwood around here. Great looking bird though.

ChuckO

That looks like a **** shoot for a juicy whole chicken, the bbq is sexy, but the plated pic, Cut....take two..hehe;)

It just never got going. I would have thought that 30+ hours in the marinade would have kicked in, but alas it didn't. I've looked for Walkerwood at the two stores I go to (Winco and Food Max) and haven't found it. I know Safeway will have it, but I hate Safeway's prices, LOL
