Rotisserie

Does Chris have feedback on this that would prompt concern over ordering the single unit for rotisserie/indoor oven use, I wonder?

I've been using the Meater for a while. Liking it a lot.

Also have the Maverick rotisserie thermometer.

The problem with the Maverick is that if it drops transmission, it will not set off an alarm.
Has happened several times. Have found that if you clean the jack to the transmitter by lightly scuffing with a scotch brite just before using, most problems are eliminated.
Also, the flimsy bracket that holds the transmitter broke shortly after the purchase. No big deal... I use double stick foam tape to attach it to the end of the handle of the spit. Not sure if the Maverick et-75 is still for sale. Probes are still available.

I prefer the Meater. No wires. However, I still have to use a Smoke/Maverick probe to monitor pit temp until the protein is added to the cooker.

The Meater ambient temp reading do not agree with the other pit probs until later in the cook. Wierd. I like the versatility of the setting on the Meater interface. One does need to learn to know how to fudge the cook settings a little to select the type of meat and target temps. Rather like the bells that go off as the desired internal temp of the meat is approaching. Nice heads up.

I contacted Meater regarding the ambient temps. They replied that incorrect prob placement (ambient temp part of the probe) can cause problems if it's too close to the meat. The cold meat & "cold air bubble" will cause incorrect readings.

That would be a score. I would find the $20 if I had to check the couch cushions and buy it now.

Thanks Bruce, who knows? I'm starting a new job tomorrow then I'm in Seattle the next week. The seller says he's out of town next week. We shall see.

Thank you again!

Hahhahha. Pulled the thread up to say the exact same thing. Couch cushions or raid the change bucket.

Hyde, just be sure all the parts are there. Should have 2 basket/cradle things to hold birds in as well as two connectors to secure them.

I realize the thread is entitled "Rotisserie" but since the Meater has been discussed here, and could be a tool for rotisserie cooks, does anyone have a compelling reason against buying one? Though, I am mystified as to why they still haven't shipped the Block. I assume they haven't shipped production units since it is still listed as "pre-order." Thx.

I'm totally getting a Meater in about two weeks. I'm back to work, got my first paycheck, but don't want to raise any wife hackles buying too much too fast. Plus, once I have it, I will make her a rotisserie chicken that will be worth every penny of the 70 bux it costs :)

Would really be interested to see how some users here like this product. Looking at Amazon though it seems there are similar products that are cheaper and more highly rated so it seems this product does not stand alone for wireless functionality
