I've been using the Meater for a while. Liking it a lot.
Also have the Maverick rotisserie thermometer.
The problem with the Maverick is that if it drops transmission, it will not set off an alarm.
Has happened several times. Have found that if you clean the jack to the transmitter by lightly scuffing with a scotch brite just before using, most problems are eliminated.
Also, the flimsy bracket that holds the transmitter broke shortly after the purchase. No big deal... I use double stick foam tape to attach it to the end of the handle of the spit. Not sure if the Maverick et-75 is still for sale. Probes are still available.
I prefer the Meater. No wires. However, I still have to use a Smoke/Maverick probe to monitor pit temp until the protein is added to the cooker.
The Meater ambient temp reading do not agree with the other pit probs until later in the cook. Wierd. I like the versatility of the setting on the Meater interface. One does need to learn to know how to fudge the cook settings a little to select the type of meat and target temps. Rather like the bells that go off as the desired internal temp of the meat is approaching. Nice heads up.
I contacted Meater regarding the ambient temps. They replied that incorrect prob placement (ambient temp part of the probe) can cause problems if it's too close to the meat. The cold meat & "cold air bubble" will cause incorrect readings.
