One of my grills goes to a good home

Few of you know I occasionally buy old grills, clean and fix them and sell them. I do this for fun and to make a little extra money to allow me to buy cool accessories for my grills and nice steaks on occasion.

I had a lady reach out to me interested in one of my Performers. She was the first to message me and simply asked me to call her. I did and she had a million questions, but I like when people ask questions. Love passing along my little knowledge of grilling and grills to others.

She was looking for a charcoal grill to buy for an 18 year old to use to cook for other foster kids at a foster home in downtown Atlanta. She said he was using a small charcoal grill, but it was in very bad condition and very small. I told her if he was able to cook on a small charcoal grill, then cooking on the Performer would be a dream come true to him.
She said he is bipolar and grilling helps with his condition.

After she told me why she was buying it I decided to throw in a bag of charcoal and some baskets. I also walked her through how everything on the grill works. And showed he a few YouTube videos that would be helpful.
She just sent me these pictures and message this morning.

Thanks. I always wonder where the grills that I sell end up. Very cool to see is being used and appreciated.

This was actually the frame from the Gen 2 I bought that had the nice Crate and Barrel light green color kettle on it. I kept the kettle and swapped over a newer black kettle on to the frame. Should cook a lot of meals for that family. The foster mother at this house is a former Atlanta judge. She retired when she was about 60 years old and shortly after her husband passed away. She had some money saved up and since she was no longer working she decided to start taking in some kids. She is now ~80 years old and the kids she fostered are older teenagers now. Pretty cool story. The lady that bought the grill is (I think) their god-mother.

That is a very good thing to do pass on a great grill to folks that can really use it and better themselves at the same time. He looks to be very proud of his new grill.
 
Food does so much good for a persons “ self worth”, For me, what you have done should be a beacon for many of us with “too much”. I think I’m going to gift some of my less used equipment in that manner. Blessings on your house!
 
My wife likes to laugh at my grill "business" since the inflow never equals the outflow. But, I have to say that making a worthwhile donation like you just did, Kyle, brings more benefits than any payment in cash ever could😇! My donated and gifted grills are the ones that warm my heart the most.
 
Kyle, with all the craziness that is going on in 2020, may this be the thing that you cherish and remember most about this year. Good on you! 😀
