No grillin tonight

Well as the title says, no grilling tonight. Snowblower is poised and at the ready, and pressure cooker braised beef shortribs are on tonight's dinner docket. Haven't done them in a long time. But saw them at Costco yesterday and just HAD to buy them. They looked so good. Only damn I forgot to buy fresh celery. I have some but not the freshest. I guess it'll have to do.

That's like a party in your mouth, love them!
I'm working on my snow blower. Started it 3 months ago with no problems but now with snow coming down........

Good luck on the machine. I started mine earlier this fall. Was laughing my butt off because try as I light I could not start it. I finally decided to look in the gas tank........................yep.......................you guessed it. Funny how filling it and it started right up on the first yank of the cord LOL.
Yeah Brad..........................you got me pegged but I will be a well fed wimp LOL

Me and the two indoor Weber's and the Instant Pot get quite friendly in the winter here. Not as nasty as you guys get but enough to drive me indoors. 19F 20-25mph winds and 90% humidity I turn into a wimp with a capital W please.

Larry, I have never had, ashamed to say short ribs before do you cook them like back ribs what do they taste like I see they are not cheap but generally in my house its filet's or ribeye's so not cheap just wondering if they are better than say a ribeye.

Rich, I live in ATL moved from Boston in 96 hated the weather. It was 26 on Christmas day here to say I am a wimp below 50 degrees would be an understatement. The funny thing is in Boston on Christmas Day talking to my sister it was 57.

Nice! I know you know how to do them, regardless of the method.

Maybe it's because we're in SW Ohio where it seems it has been ages since we've had a whopper snowfall but I have been praying (for several years) for a HUGE snowfall. For me, a 2' storm would fit the bill.

I've been on blood thinners for the last 15 yrs or so. When I was working, my body got used to it dealing with the cold.
Now that I'm retired, I'm also a sally:cry:
Plus side my son came over and the snow blower is doing it's job, got about 2" so far

I never did get around to starting mine this fall but I have faith in it, should it be needed tomorrow. It's a lot better than the one it replaced, an older Snapper with a Tecumseh engine that pretty much refuses to run even after liberal doses of profanity.;) Yet nobody on Craigslist seems willing to give me $35 for it!:ROFLMAO:

The plow jockey was making an awful “bang, whizz” racket about 2 AM this morning for a touch over an inch of sloppy snow, which was followed by rain at around four now, cars are whipping by and the road sounds no more treacherous than rainy. Sounds like a jackknifed semi at the I-94/US-131 interchange is the worst right around here but, it looks like Grand Rapids looks a lot worse!
Fired my blower up late November, took right off! We shall see how it does when it’s “on the line”! Not going anywhere today unless I really need something.

Tim, I am north in Rockford and have about 5" and still coming down. Some genius on 96 decided pulling a 40" boat would be a good idea until he wrecked.

Jim, that looks like what I was used to, growing up on the east side of Lake MI, about 3 hours north of Ryan Burke.

We got less than 2" here, and it's cold enough that it'll move easily. Honestly, I'd rather move a foot of snow at 10 degrees than an inch at 30 degrees.

Dad moved snow with an open top tractor with a front blade for some 50 years, and just froze. He bought this tractor for orchard work, 90hp 4cyl turbodiesel 4wd, with a charcoal filtered seal cab. It has a front mount 3pt hitch with a PTO, and it's perfect to hang an 8' 2 stage snowblower on it. He could clear the farm yard in less time than it took the tractor to warm up, and in shirt sleeve comfort. He started clearing yards for the neighbors just because he enjoyed it.

We got about 4 or 5" yesterday PM I got the blower going. Was having a helluva time. Finally squirted a little brake cleaner near the carb (Italian starting fluid LOL), first pull.......................bang. Woke up to another couple inches of VERY heavy wet snow. Went to start the blower.............starts right up. Then dies, starts up again, dies, repeat with every time getting harder to start and dying sooner. Then it dawned on me.........................I had the gas shut off :D Turned the gas on and off she went. Have I mentioned how much I hate winter and snow? Ugh. I hate alligators worse though :D
Got that done. Wife off to work
Now for the short ribs. Did them in my stove top Fasure cooker. I am not into the counter top appliance thing. Browned them up, browned up the aromatic veg (carrots, celery, onion) de-glazed with some dark vermouth, red wine a touch of soy sauce and Worcestershire. Added a couple cups organic chicken bone broth and a single beef bouillon cube. Meat back in, lid on locked and loaded. On the pressure for 55 min, turned off gas and went out to shovel. Results were melt in your mouth tender. Literally could cut through the meat with a fork. That and a salad rounded things out.

Now THAT is a nice rig!

One nice thing about living here is when it does snow it doesn't last the saying here is "What do you do the day after it snows.....Watch it melt"
I don't even own a snow shovel!
The picture below was from last year 48 hours later no sign of snow at all.

"I can always put more clothes on, there's a limit to what I can take off. Then people just laugh and point a lot."
Now THAT is a nice rig!
I've seen pretty much forever that style of snowblower but on the rear of the tractor. It really does a number on you to stay twisted around to see what you're doing. This front mount is the bee's knees, it let's you stay straight & square and with great visibility. The rig was bought to pull an orchard sprayer, and to run an 8' flail mower (grinding prunings in the orchards,) on the front. Being able to run the snowblower was a nice bonus.
