Somehow my wife and I became the permanent NYE hosts for our friends. So decided to work in lots of foods from the smoker and the grill.

Started by rubbing some pork loins with a coffee rub, and made a coffee bbq sauce to go with that course

For main courses there was a five pound beef tenderloin, grilled to perfection by my friend:

And while not grilled, my friend who is a professional chef brought some chicken thighs in an Asian style glaze (amazing!!)

Well, as you can imagine, they were the ultimate good news / bad news scenario.....

My wife got a silicon mold at a craft store. She broke up the jolly ranchers, and then put them in the mold in the oven to melt them, then in the fridge to harden. Did some in chocolate too, but no pics. We used the jolly rancher ones for some flavored vodka we had made (cranberry, pomegranate) and the chocolate ones for cafe patron tequila.

The downside is that they started to break and crack, so we all decided the best solution was to do more shots faster, before they broke completely....felt every bit of that idea the next day.... UGH.

Thanks all...there was other good food there, but as we all know the ones not cooked over fire or smoke just don’t count :cool:
