Finally found myself a Genesis yesterday. I've been looking on and off for a couple years, and with some recent birthday $$, decided to get serious. Looked online at a blue one on Saturday that I thought had a little rust, and had tentative plans with the seller to go look at it yesterday. But when I touched base with him, he told me it'd been sold.
The seller informed me that he had another for sale (newer and more expensive). I had seen that listing, but it was the 'generic' black color and he was asking $375, which is way more than I wanted to spend. Over emails, I told him I was originally looking to be at $275 to which he responded that $325 was as low as he'd go. I said I'd need a closer look. So off I went with a friend and his truck. We got there only to realize that the lighting in the pics must have been off somehow. The grill wasn't black, it was the Espresso. Nice! Stainless steel grates - double nice! Clean and no rust. Burners in great shape and it lit right up. Only issue was the flavorizer bars, which are fine, but will probably need to be replaced within a year or so; and the igniter for the side burner (cheap fix). I felt pretty good about $325 for this one considering I'd just seen a new, two burner in stainless at Lowe's for a cool $999. So we loaded it up and took it home.
Wife was out last night at a thank-you dinner for the teachers at her pre-school. But I wasn't waiting to break in the new toy. I threw on a couple burgers for the kids and a celebratory T-bone for myself. Cooked the bejeezus out of em.
Guess I need a little practice w/ this puppy. Still enjoyable though. I did simple seasoning of fresh ground black pepper, onion powder and garlic powder. Then I finished it with something I acquired recently just to try, but am starting to really like - Pinot Noir salt. Nice, big flakes and bursts of flavor that work really well on steak. Anyway, here are a few pics.
