My First Pork Butt Finished


 
Wow that looks tender and tasty. Tell us something about the cook.

I rubbed it with the Southern Succor rub from The Renown Mr. Brown. I used a combination of sugar maple, applewood and hickory for smoke. The couple of things that kind of had be scratching my head were the length of time it took. It was a little under 6 lbs and I put it on at 4:15 am and it wasn't done till 7:00 pm cooking at 250,and that was with me foiling it at 170 degrees and increasing the cook temp to 300. The other issue that troubled me was the different temp reading I was getting betweenmy Guru DX2 and my Igrill2. I was getting a variance of 10-14 degrees. The last time I checked the units with boiling water they were both accurate and in line with one another.
 
First of all, that boston butt looks super from here!
About temp differences are you planning new ice/boiling test? Shoul be, Imo
 
Thanks guys. I so appreciate your input. I got throw a bit by the length of the cook and the different temps I was getting from the 2 devices.
