KC isn't in top 30 bbq cities

#62, Anchorage, Arizona. I think that speaks to the validity of this article.

In related news, Eau Claire, Wisconsin was just voted best city in America for Maryland crab cakes.

(it actually wasn't, but would be just as reasonable as some of the BBQ choices in the above article)

I finished up a hotel project in KC earlier this year. It entailed site visits several times a year. Engineers and Contractors would take me to some REAL GOOD Kansas City BBQ.

My favorites are Arthur Bryant's (original location) and Jack Stack in The Freight House locations:

I showed this list to my dad. He reminded me I had told him Wichita was better on BBQ than KC way back 30+ years ago (when we traveled every weekend for sports).

These days - I have to say KC has Wichita on sheer volume. Have spent a significant amount of time in both cities. Have eaten a lot of bbq in both cities in retail establishments, residences and tailgating. Have family in both cities. I cannot imagine giving the Wichita the nod on a "best of" list. That is no slight on Wichita, KS as I have had some great food there.

Thanks for some human understanding Colin and Bob.
All of these “best” lists are completely subjective unless they are based on financial bottom lines.

Wait, wut? You're telling me there's a financial ulterior motive to publishing these "best of" lists? Say it isn't so! LQTM

My feeling...if you like the place, you like it. Who am I to judge anything anyone likes? Geez....

Bumping an old thread here, but Charlotte is #3 ?

I did not even see Lexington, NC, or Shelby, NC on the list either.
They only listed cities. I was more than a little surprised Charlotte finished at #3.
There are only a handful of BBQ restaurants left in Charlotte.

San Diego? (I live here)

I just spit coffee on my keyboard.

Me and a buddy have been on a multi-year quest trying bbq places in San Diego - they rate from meh to pretty good, but a place on the "best" in the US?

Is there a link to fink some of these highly rated joints in each city?

The problem with their ratings, is they're using Tripadvisor reviews. Online reviews are worthless. Yelp put together a list of top BBQ joints in OKC, and Texas Roadhouse was named #1 .

Is that enough said ?
If you read the article, even Tripadvisor called the writer to say they had nothing to do with the list. Lol. I'm not sure where these guys got their data or what their motive is with this one.
