I will just leave this here

My friend @Gregory Pinch is getting his cook box blasted today inside and out from a company in LA that is only charging him $50. If anyone's interested I can get the name of this place. It's a company that specializes in high temp Cerakote.
The Cerakote would be $125. It’s good to about 1800 degrees.

I think these prices seem pretty good for LA

Anyone have any thoughts on this Ducane grill? I tend to stick with Weber unless it's just a extreme good deal. I'm considering offering $50

Also looking at a Viking but it's a bit bulkier than I would prefer. Probably excellent for rotisserie though.

I know that Ducane was owned by Weber for a while. I have no idea if that particular grill is a Weber made Ducane or not though.

Yeah and it seems like a really good deal and it looks to be in pretty good shape but I'd hate to get stuck not being able to find certain parts I might need or the parts being really expensive. Plus I have quite a few Weber projects lined up so I should probably pass unless the price comes down to free.

Plus it's just a bland stainless Grill with no character. I can appreciate it for being well-built though

That Ducane is one of the Weber made ones. They're quite good products. All 304SS as well. Beware with Viking. They have 2 lines of product which both carry the name "Viking". One is actually made by Viking and one made "for Viking". My understanding is the latter is not nearly as well made. I think at least with the actual Viking made one you can find parts (though expensive), and with the Ducane IDK about parts

It is effective stuff, but just be careful with it! Years ago I allowed a heavy mix of it and water to soak my pants, not noticing anything. I wound up with alkali burns. At least 7 years later, I still have some traces of scars on my legs  . You definitely don't want that in your eyes.
Good to know. I’m familiar with harsh chemicals, but sometimes I mix grill work with cocktails, so I will for sure keep that in mind!

I mix grill work with cocktails quite often but, not the kind of work being discussed right now. I’ll be having some cocktails whe. I touch off the grill for dinner!

I like to have a bit of a buzz when I’m doing the insides of the lids. I am hoping to be putting in some work on a couple of frames this weekend, while also searching for new acquisitions.

Passed on an e330 tonight on My drive home. Just too much work to justify it. So I have my weberitis in check… somewhat

I don't blame you for passing. I have enough new parts and grills to do 1 or 2 more s330s to make better than new. I'm not in any hurry because it's probably going up for sale in the spring when I can get the most for it. Probably the last 330 I'll do though. Even when they're free there just isn't enough money to get out of them. I'll try to sell this last one I do for a decent profit and if I can't then I'll gift it to my brother-in-law for an upgrade from the last one I gave him. Those 330s are actually excellent grills and rehab for reasonabley cheep for a personal grill or gift/donation.

It definitely makes your hands feel weird and it also kills grass

Around my parts they’re rot boxes. Unless you find an NG one that was under cover. The handful of NG ones I’ve seen had better bottoms and sides. But almost all of the propane ones are caving in on themselves.
I can still pick them up without rusted out bottoms and do a full re spray on the cart to keep it from rusting. With that problem solved they're pretty good Grill but still not great return on investment for time spent and money put in.

I was I was just disassembling my rusted Genesis 3000 to make it into a temporary cart for now and I'll post a picture when I'm done.

Question:
I remembered that I had a brand new set of burners so I took the spider guards off the old deteriorated burners before throwing them out and put them on the new burners. Are they beneficial? Just curious. I like that it will make the new burners look original when I get around to using them so that's worth it. Also is there any downside to using them?20241004_184617~2.jpg

If your new burners have the screens on the vents, then there is no need or benefit from putting on the spider guards really. I see no downside to putting them on. I don't think they will restrict airflow enough to make a difference.

Okay sounds good thank you Bruce. If there is any downside I can definitely take them off. Otherwise I'd like to leave them on for the original look.
