Ok. I was getting a bit confused! I wonder if that hole below the burner if there was a crack in the burner that flame was blowing thru the bottom and acting like a small torch?
That's what I thought also but there was no bad spots in the burner near there. At least not the current setOk. I was getting a bit confused! I wonder if that hole below the burner if there was a crack in the burner that flame was blowing thru the bottom and acting like a small torch?
I'm pretty sure that most, if not all cook box damage is caused from continuing to use worn out burners and crossover tubes. That box really looks like swiss cheese. You have definitely taught me the importance of inspecting and using good burners.
I'd say this grill has also been in a terrible environment. I've never seen one like this around here. No doubt the biggest problem with Cook box holes is burner neglect.I'm pretty sure that most, if not all cook box damage is caused from continuing to use worn out burners and crossover tubes. Yeah, that would probably go without saying.I'd say this grill has also been in a terrible environment. I've never seen one like this around here
It's a little strange that Weber had two different manifolds for those grills. The Genesis 1000-5000 manifolds were all the same. They just plugged up the side burner port if it wasn't needed.I have removed the side burner hose and quick connect on a Silver C manifold and put in a plug to convert them before.

I am going to have to add a side burner port to a B manifold. The last one I picked up is an NG. But I just remembered that I have a spirit 700 manifold (somewhere) that may just have a plug in it.It's a little strange that Weber had two different manifolds for those grills. I don't think spirit 700 manifolds have a plug either.I am going to have to add a side burner port to a B manifold. The last one I picked up is an NG. But I just remembered that I have a spirit 700 manifold (somewhere) that may just have a plug in it.
Also I just stumbled across this museum piece on a Facebook Weber group. It’s freaking GORGEOUS!!

I’ve seen them in listings, but I figured someone did it on their own. But that is what I would assume is when they used redwood? So none of the “slat” grills were redwood?I dont think ive ever seen the bottom wood slats like that.
The very first slat grills were cedar and then they switched to maple.I’ve seen them in listings, but I figured someone did it on their own. But that is what I would assume is when they used redwood? So none of the “slat” grills were redwood?
