Here is my 2025 grill that i will be restoring, Genesis 1

Took a bit of catching up! What years did the SS stuff really start? Was it the first generation of Summit that it really started to gain traction?
Cody, I hope you aren't expecting me to answer this question, I would have no idea. 🤫
Bruce or Steve or Jon would be the guys that would know.

A little cheaper Mark. And no, unless you find new old stock, they don't make them any more.

I would cast a big ‘ol yes vote for these burners on a keeper grill or personal cooker. I’ve used so many of the knockoffs over time that I had become numb to the difference in quality. I recently put a set of these on a project and they are just so much better in every way but price. The smaller and more numerous holes in the OEM Weber burners allow the flames to pattern much bettter when burning, especially on the lower settings. If you’re never going to use the grill yourself, I can understand making a budget choice over authenticity, though.

Nope, never will use the grill, I will light the new burners just to make sure they work good.
I posted a want to buy ad for new old stock burner tubes but not going to hold my breath.

The steam n chips IIRC was not offered on the 1 or the 2. I bought a 2 brand new back when we moved here. If you went to the upper models it came standard and of course you could buy the product and install it on your lower tier Genesis. IIRC they all (all versions) back before the x000 days) came with porcelain enameled grates and bars as well. FWIW my recollection of the porcelain stamped grates is they actually cooked better than the SS ones (stamped SS ones). Less prone to sticking and better "browning" with them as well as they were heavier than the SS ones.
The porcelain flavo bars would not last through the warranty period though. When mine went Weber offered me the free upgrade to the SS ones.

So, Mark adding a Steam N Chips would still be authentic - just not original "stock." It's kind of like some people who restore cars add a period correct A/C unit to their classic car.

I definitely agree with you that the porcelain coated stamped grates are easier to clean and cook on then the stamped stainless ones.

Mark, keep your eyes on ebay. A lot of times, someone finds an old set in the garage that never got used.
Here is a genuine Weber set, but not the really early ones where the middle burner had hole on both sides.

When I did my recent Skyline, I had to use a used old early set, I did what I could to thoroughly clean. Just not silver shiny like an unused set, but I wanted the double-hole middle burner and personally was OK with how it looks. I suppose I could have spent hours more trying to get them shinier, but I wasn't willing.

Thank you guys for your opinions and expert advice.
I now probably won't put on the Steem and Chips, it must look like a Genesis 1 when it was born.

I got a question, the grease drip pan holder, was that porcelain ?

Hard to say for certain, but I would guess that the holder was also porcelain coated when new. It is possible, though, that it was only powder coated. Not sure how porcelain coating does on small wires. The newer holders are only powder coated and rust readily after some use.

Hello - my project was on the green version. It came from my neighbor for free who bought it new, so original owner. It was in rough shape but all of the original stuff was there. Only thing I couldn't restore was the weight gauge. If someone has one in good working condition It would be nice to have, let me know.

So since I had the original pan - yes, it was porcelain coated.
I did notice the wood panels on yours seem like they were replaced with actual would. Mine were all faux wood and gray colored. Looks like you were missing the bottom shelf and panels in your parts. I had those same gray faux wood strips on the bottom rack/shelf.

A Genesis 1 came with real wood, the very early versions had real wide 3 wood slats.
The latter years they had 6 slats, it wasn't until much later that Weber went with the fake wood slats.

I'm going to send my big slide out pan and the small grease tray holder to Jeff in Independence Missouri for reporcelained.
Larry, you have a holder like this ?

I thought Mark was asking about whether the wire holder the early Genesis grills had was porcelain coated.

SORRY I MISSED MARK'S POST ABOVE!
