I got these grill mats for Christmas and have been walking past them since then without using them. A slightly gourmet winter grilled cheese & tomato soup meal seemed like a great way to try them out.
A couple of essential ingredients to what I had in mind- heirloom tomatoes canned from our garden, and cucumber vodka.
Starting out the tomato bisque with garlic, onion, celery, and carrots simmering in chicken broth.
Simplicity- buttered bread, one slice of sharp cheddar and one slice of smoked gouda on each sandwich.
Tomatoes, flour, cream, etc. added to the pot and given stick blender treatment.
Performer ready to go.
A cast-iron skillet might be superior for consistency, but these mats offer a lot more flat area. Think I'll find more uses for them.
Just a bit of oozy goodness.
For lubrication, a basil cucumber vodka martini.
