Sorry my reply got “stuck!”I was hoping @Jon Tofte would have some input. I know he has experience will the older ones.
Nothing to be ashamed of. I'm just lucky I'm not paying myself by the hour LOL. One more to goI must have worn mine out, haven’t been able to find it for years. My Jr lid is the same way and I’m ashamed that I’ve never taken it apart
No worries Jon thank you for the replySorry my reply got “stuck!”
The XX grill I made from parts had the collector box. I didn’t know anything different, and it fit and worked fine.
My all original XXI, however, does have the type you guys have been showing with no collector box.
I think so too BruceI love those classic lids. They are much higher quality as far as the porcelain coating goes.
Thanks Val!Incredibly clean and really deep color. That lid looks flawless. Great job Josh.
Thank Ed!I think it looks elegant and cool, a subtle upgrade. What gave you the idea?
All that time finishing wood projects brought some new ideas to Weberitis!Thank Ed!
Just taking my time and thinking outside the box of different ways to do things.
I'm excited to get to the wood slats and handles! That's my favorite part. I think when I get my woodworking operation restarted I'm going to do at least a few sets for a few different grills. I have a few different kinds of wood but I'm most excited for Ipe Ironwood "Brazilian walnut"All that time finishing wood projects brought some new ideas to Weberitis!![]()
Josh, that wheel looks like it works great. Do you have a model number or link to the wheel? Does it also work for the carbon build up on the insides of the cookboxes and endcaps as well? It's kind of hard to make a video like this but here is a short video cook box paint removal with my newest DeWalt XR impact and wire wheel attachment.
