Genesis XXI (Jr) Restoration

I must have worn mine out, haven’t been able to find it for years. My Jr lid is the same way and I’m ashamed that I’ve never taken it apart

Well I started working on the badge. 4 coats of Krylon High Heat Max Gloss Black. Sanded the raised part with 1000 grit until it evenly turned to a matte charcoal. Being careful not to sand through the black paint. I like it I think it looks cool but probably going to end up sanding all the way down removing all the paint from the raised areas. I'm kind of a purest with most everything except the wood. I like to be creative with the types of wood and finishes. Other than that I like to try to stay close to factory original.

That looks pretty cool Josh! I’ve often thought of sanding it with 40 grit. Painting and then sanding with a fine grit just to see what it would look like. Want to see how the paint would stay down low in the grooves, what it would look like.

It's kind of hard to make a video like this but here is a short video cook box paint removal with my newest DeWalt XR impact and wire wheel attachment.

Josh, that wheel looks like it works great. Do you have a model number or link to the wheel? Does it also work for the carbon build up on the insides of the cookboxes and endcaps as well?

The speed and torque of a high-quality impact gun makes a big difference for me though also.
