Absolutely agree. Also I could be wrong but it seems like as far as the grills I have come across the older first generation grills seem less likely to fade. Could be coincidence though.

There's just something about where you live that seems to be beneficial to the long term survival of grills in general, not that we all don't occasionally find an old one still in really good condition.

They're coming, so don't let that slow you down. You can always pop them on at the end anyway. I highly recommend repainting the wheel itself before adding the new white walls.

Although they are not perfect I am very happy with how the grease tray and drip pan cleaned up. I'm still working on a couple options for grease tray holder. The original might clean up or I might use a new one.

With a Genesis 1000 I have several of each part to choose from so that becomes a lot easier than a Junior that I don't have a dozen or so of them sitting around. So if the parts are in fairly good condition I'm pretty happy to be able to recondition them.

Manifold, valves and regulator cleaned up. I usually remove the valves from the manifold to clean and service them but they were on there so tight that I felt like they would snap if I applied any more pressure to remove them so I took Steve's advice and cleaned and service them on the manifold.

I'm thinking I'm going to have to use a modified Weber 7509 igniter. Any other thoughts?
