Do you keep a fire extinguisher around your grill area?

Hrrrm..... I do have a larger one in the kitchen (and I really should put the house on the back of the house again.) How large of an extinguisher you'll need will depend on what's burning. A charcoal fire shouldn't take much to put out the immediate flame, but as soon as the dry chem or foam burns off, I wouldn't be surprised to see it re-ignite.

Gas fire? If it's downstream of the regulator, turn the valve off FIRST. If it's between the regulator and the tank, *RUN* and call 911 on the way. A 20lb LP tank is a pretty healthy FAE.

Having said all that.... ANYTHING is better than nothing. I don't see the ABC rating, although with the claim that it's good on wood, grease and electrical, it sounds a decent general purposed insulating foam.

That's a spray can, but I guess it would be ok.
I have several larger lever ones in my garage.

I know I’m going to dope slap myself after I hear the answer but FAE?

Flash alert. FAE ( Film At Eleven)

Three FAE (First Aid Employees) were called to FAE ( the Faroe Islands) to rescue a FAE ( Fire Apparatus Engineer) and a FAE ( Field Applications Engineer) attempting to modify a propane grill when the 20 Lb propane tank became an FAE (Fuel-Air Explosive). An FAE (Failure Analysis Engineer) is en route to FAE ( the Faroe Islands ) and will employ a FAE ( Functional Area Evaluator ) tto preform the FAE ( Functional Abilities Evaluation).

There's not much flammable by my grill and smoker. I don't keep a fire extinguisher right at hand. If a big wind blew over the lit grill it's possible it could get close enough to the house to be an issue if I wasn't there to deal with it, but then a fire extinguisher wouldn't help if I wasn't there to use it. I do have a medium sized extinguisher in the garage, which is only half a dozen steps away. And there's a garden hose maybe thirty feet away.

Not saying it's pointless to have one, just that I've not felt a need for one grilling on concrete. If I was on a wood deck it would be a different story.

I keep a good dozen spread out.
I‘m a steamfitter so I work with flames a lot.
Most people aren’t aware how easy and harmful this can be.
We even use portable sprinklers and hose down areas during the 4th of July.
Several of my NorCal buddies are set up for roof sprinkler.

I keep one out back along with a nice long 100' water hose we use for the garden. On my Performer, 90% of the time I always use the coals banked in the front, and indirect or any resting meat in the back 1/2 of the grill. Grease fires in the ash catcher happen every so often, especially when I've got the temp pegged after a greasy long cook. Using lump and not running double charcoal grates, a lot of smaller pieces of lit lump make their way into the ash catcher and light it up.

Mike, I have a hard time believing an $11 spray can will do the trick in case of fire. The best thing you can do is to simply put the cover back on and wait for the fire to go out. That being said, I have 1 20lb extinguisher next to my grills. Inside the kitchen, I have three different types of extinguishers, one of them is a heavy and pretty old water extinguisher.
