Do you keep a fire extinguisher around your grill area?

It hadn't crossed my tiny little brain that somebody WOULD sell an extinguisher without a UL label. Yeah, that should be mandatory in our house.

Maybe we should arrange a test?

If only someone on the forum had an old grill that they didn't use and was heading for the scrapper to simulate a grease fire and see how it goes.

do we need a go-fund me to buy one or two of the spray can sized extinguishers? I'm in for few $$

I have an extinguisher in the kitchen which is close to the backyard where the grill is at but more likely I would go for the hose if things got out of hand. I usually just drop the lid when grease catches. The most sparking I see is with lump in the chimney starter, so I keep that a good distance from the house.

With my grill, it's almost always high heat direct fired. Grease isn't an issue, but sparks from the chimney onto the grass does concern me.
Smoker.... the grease is captured well away from the firebox, and drained into a foil pan for disposal.

My grill is on concrete squares with crushed stone, so I don’t use any fire extinguishers outside. That said, you can’t be too safe and it’s nice you’re thinking of it.

My first thought is that it’s smart it’s a chemical extinguisher that will stop grease fire, but my second thought is the can might be too small for a grill situation (looks like it’s a pan size). Additionally if you did have to use it, I’m not sure what chemicals are in it, something like baking soda would do the same job as the can, but still be food safe.
