Curb Alert !!!

I keep looking for a blue one but the only ones I've seen are side control E320s, too expensive and or too far away.

A side control E3xxx is hard to take apart to fit in the back of my SUV.

This is the last S330 that I finished. This is one that I donated to a family in need.

I want to do my next one similar to this one where I painted all of the gray black except this time I want to paint the table end caps and the control panel end caps black also. So that there is no gray. Just black and Stainless.

@Jon Tofte was a work of art on his:

Very nice Dan!

Both yours and Jon's look fantastic!

That black on black looks even better than I expected. I have a SS330 and a black 330. I've been more excited about the SS but maybe I'll do a black on black with no Gray. Thank you for sharing Dan!

The first blacked out one I saw was @Dave in KC

That looks great also!
These were all done before I came to this site. Very cool to see. Also I did my 330 Restorations before I came here or even knew about this place.

I think I've been here for about 8-9 months

I wish there was a better matching gray for the high heat paints.

I found an industrial paint that says it can withstand sustained temps of 200 degrees, because I want to do a cabinet grill and frames in something other than black or silver. Hoping after a few flips this spring and summer I’ll have better funds to do some experiments. 👀

My friend Greg found a perfect matching high temp paint.

I'd have to ask him again what it was. I always like to use black when I repaint Webers

It might surprise you. I think those tests that determine max temps are done in an oven, where the ambient temp is the sustained temp. In the case of something like an end cap or a frame rail, the heat is being radiated into an ambient temp that is much lower which carries the heat away, like steam carries the heat away from boiling water. The actual temp that the coating fails may be higher than the sustained temp, especially if the manufacturer is conservative with their ratings.

This is why I love this forum. That thought never once crossed my mind. I have quickly touched the frame close to the cookbox and it’s not skin searing hot. The end cap is a different story 🤣 One of these days I’ll have to remember to bring my surface temp reader home when I’m going to grill. Or remember to shoot the frame the next time I grill at work.

It’s an Axalta (formerly DuPont) coating which is incredibly durable. I painted a swingset from one of our local elementary schools with its sister product, and 5 years later, it still looks like the day I painted it.

I reserve seeing one, XCT or XTC? Some sort of a ceramic coating in a spray can of I recall correctly.

Not sure if you have seen this thread.

Nothing exact but there are some that are close.

I can ask him again if you want me to? I can probably get pics from him also.

If you do it all the same color, no one will likely notice or care. Why do you think MAACO and Earl Scheib always painted the entire car? Nothing would match otherwise. But paint the whole car? Who knows, who cares? :D
