I've got a group of buddies that gets together once a month for "steak night". Tonight was my turn to host, and I decided on "Steak on a Stick", so I picked up some plate ribs. Did a pretty straight forward smoke on these with about 6 hours at 250, seasoned with DP Dizzy Dust. For smoke I used a 50/50 mix of hickory and cherry. Sides were "no-stir" mushroom risotto and a spinach salad (with goat cheese, pomegranate seeds and walnuts.) We had a great time, and the grub was great! Here's a few pics:
First, I made a loaf of sourdough bread, and, I have to thank our own Cliff Bartlett for sending me some of his sourdough starter:
Here are the ribs after some initial trimming:
I'll skip over the seasoned pictures, and get to the meat of the matter (pun intended):
Plated up with the aforementioned risotto and salad:
This was a great meal from beginning to end. I enjoy the time with my friends, and it's great to have a monthly reason for all of us to get together. Truth be told, the whisky and cigars after dinner weren't too shabby either!
Grill on!
