This past weekend I was able to escape the city and go camping in the mountains with a good friend. We decided to go to the North slope of the http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uinta_Mountains. We made camp on a nice stream and decided to do some fishing.

Next day more fishing. The pine beetles have killed a lot of trees.

I caught a mountain white fish that we decided to smoke.

Looks like a great trip. Gotta love catching, field dressing and cooking your own fish. You look like a happy camper in that last pic.

I need to get into the Uintas more... Most of my time is spent in Big & Little Cottonwood, Millcreek, and American Fork, with most of my camps in AF. We hiked in Christmas something flats (meadows?) a couple years ago, and I was invited to go backpacking somewhere in the Uintas 2 weeks ago but I had to work.

I really like your ABTs and smoked fish - and the first catch. I used to fish every weekend but I never was very good at it

Looks like a great time Jason. Nothing better than a great get away with a good friend and hanging all your cares at
the end of a fishing line, and a cold beer to bring in the evening. Thanks for sharing!

What a fantastic looking camp, Jason. Your pictures were wonderful. Liked your cook shots too, but man, I hope you had more to eat than abt's the first night and that great looking Mountain White Fish the second. I'd have to eat some bark or something for a little roughage.

Jason,

There is nothing finer than cooking fresh caught fish outdoors. Nice call on the smoke too. I miss being able to camp in the mountains. You are very fortunate!

Regards,

John

I love these camping threads !
Awesome place !

Sadly my beloved Lower Deschutes is always in extreme fire danger during late summer....no open fires which includes charcoal.
My little Kenmore gasser always comes to the rescue, though.

Jason, beautiful country. Kind of places I like to be. BBQ looked good too. Spent a few months many yrs ago in Salina & worked @ Freemont Jct.
