That CI burner is a beast. I considered buying one but I don't think it would hold up well vs the SS one for my use.
I think the guy got the grill for free about 12 years ago and put in the CI burner. He said he never covered the grill. This thing shed layers of rust. Must have been more than 1.5" of it in the bottom and I was sure the burner was shot. It is just so massive and thick that there is a ton more metal to go. I would also have gone for SS for a beach house. These grills still amaze me with regard to the grease management (there is none or maybe it just vaporizes it). The Webers I restore have tons of gooey and hard packed grease that need to be scraped and razor bladed off. With these BMs it kind of just turns / burns into dried dust in the bottom, that I scrape a little and can actually vacuum out. I have yet to see grease in any of the small pull out grease pans of the 5 grills I have done. That CI burner is a beast. The wire rack that holds the grease drawer on mine completely rusted to nothing. I was going to use a bent coat hangar to hold it but came up with a different idea. I'm using galvanized floor joist bridging....but I'm in no hurry for the reasons you mentioned. There was zero evidence of grease in that grease drawer. I've got the finished grill loaded in the back of my vehicle and we're heading down in a few hours. My son will help me get it up the stairs to our deck. I'm anxious to fire it up!! Looks great. I wish I had the folding SS side shelves but they would cost me 2x what I have in the grill. What's for dinner?Project completed. This Broilmaster P3 is now in it's new home. Cleaned, painted, new bowtie burner, new ceramic bricquetts, new igniter and a bit of new stainless hardware. I fired it up after connecting the NG hose. It hit 500+ on the hood in just under 5 minutes. The cast SS grates, 304 SS cart and shelves make this grill almost completely impervious to this environment. The Weber S-210 hits FBMP in short order. I intend to maintain a arts inventory of the internals...spare burner, spare igniter, spare bricquetts or flame tiles. Will grill tonight on it. Not sure what yet!
Thank you Sir. Steak and some kind of fish or crabcakes.oh...and some Jersey Tomatoes! Just listed the Weber...$125Looks great. I wish I had the folding SS side shelves but they would cost me 2x what I have in the grill. What's for dinner?
I believe quite easily. You can order the LP manifold/valve assembly for $30-$40.Question for you BroilMaster experts: how easy are these to convert from NG to LP? I see these occasionally in my area, but always NG models.
I think you mean ALL Webers, unless you know of any that they support converting...They are designed for ready conversion unlike some Weber’s.
This is news to me. I connected the existing hose that I had from my Weber S-210( which didn't have a regulator either). Also, the guy I bought the Broilmaster had it converted by a local Broilmaster dealer...although he did not apply a conversion label as the original states its an LP grill.Nice looking P3. As for conversions Broilmaster is designed for VERY easy conversion though I believe NG ones are designed to run on a regulator rather than NG line directly into grill
That is a great idea! I had tried magnet hooks but they did not stick to 304 SS. Can you try to see if a magnet sticks to these hooks? I did not see where it mentioned if it was chrome plated or what type of SS. Thanks. Do you cover your grill?Finishing touch on the P3gy-1 Broilmaster. I added 304 SS hooks to the the shelves. I got these: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07XYZHY9T/?tag=tvwb-20
I used stainless screws. Drilling through the Broilmaster OEM stainless shelves took 2 new carbide bits. The water on the grill was compliments of Henri. This grill rehab is complete. I couldn't be happier with the Broilmaster. Just a better grill than the Weber S-210...which was a very good grill.
I decided to trash the S-210 after I grabbed the hood, grates, ss flavorizers, knobs and shelves. End of summer in a NJ Beach town is the worst time to be selling a grill!!
I intend to do some rehab work on the E-210 we have on the deck of our other home and will make it a Spirit hybrid!
I do believe these are solid 304 stainless steel. I had to drill to expand the existing screw holes. It wasn't so easy. In fact, I learned about drilling quality stainless steel...lower speeds and cooler surface to prevent "work hardening" as you drill. I broke two bits and torqued the head off one stainless screw before I got it dialed in.That is a great idea! I had tried magnet hooks but they did not stick to 304 SS. Can you try to see if a magnet sticks to these hooks? I did not see where it mentioned if it was chrome plated or what type of SS. Thanks. Do you cover your grill?
