BroilMaster P3 Restore

Wow, didn't know Broilmaster had cast stainless grates.
Check out the description on this ad that Jay D linked to. I did not know it either.
Long lasting cast stainless steel cooking grid for size 3 grill heads (single piece).
Only one left, probably in the entire world as of Nov. 2, 2020.

I have seen some advertised separately, but they are not common. Most have the cast iron grates and if you are lucky the very high quality stainless rods. I don’t think I have seen a cast stainless set on any used Broilmaster grill for sale.

I will be very interested to see how these work out for you, Jay. I have only seen one other high end grill brand that offered cast stainless grates.

Maybe you should clean them up and see if you can cash in on them!

A worthy idea...I could recoup the entire expenditure and replace with aftermarket SS rod offerings. But my original plan was to have the most weatherproof, decent quality grill...not too big, with decent parts availability. As I've mentioned before, it's to replace a 2013 Spirit S-210 on the deck of our beach house which sits 30-40 yards from Pennsylvania Harbor in NJ's back bay waters. It's truly hell for anything metal. The S-210 grill head and internals were very worthy contenders. The support structure and base...not so much. I did one rehab and made a PT plywood base. The refurbished, repainted steel has not held up well.
All of the components of this BM are exactly what I need in a NG grill.
So bottom line, this BM and any/all stainless components are full on keepers for me.

I like it. You have probably the most bulletproof gas grill you can get for your situation. Plus, they are EXCELLENT cookers, high heat searing or low and slow bbq. You will have to replace the burner now and then, and the igniter won’t last forever, but almost everything else will go for years and years.

I agree. In a conversation we had before he purchased it, I said that if he wasn't able to get it that a Q320 would be then next best bet as a grill for his environment.

Tried cleaning the old baked on plastic film and grease off the control panel plate. Gave up.
Ordered a new control panel plate. I tried several different things...WD40, PB Blaster, Goof Off, Brake parts cleaner. The last two started taking off the print. What's another $18.55 when I'm in this far?🤑

I know on the older BM grills, the hinge pins were pressed in and tough to remove. If yours are pressed in as well, it might be tough finding replacements in the aftermarket world. Let us know what you find at HD.

"FireFox"???

I guess that is autocorrect for Fire Box.

Yeah a broken firefox. What does that look like? LOL. An EASY way to get things like that out are to use a small C clamp and a socket. Simply press it out. Hammers and cast aluminum do not go well together

It was fused. I tried solvents, torch, then cutting to remove the top. Then punch and hammer a I now use to get mounting bolts out of Weber fire boxes. Then cursing as it broke. I will have to try the c- clamp next time.

I gave all threaded fasteners and the hinge pins a couple of shots of PB Blaster and let them sit for a few days. The hinge pins were rusted but came out with a few taps of a hammer. I had to hang some pendant lamps today( and need a therapist as a result). But I did get the grates sprayed with EZ Off and set to soak in a trash bag for a night or so. I'll start in earnest on the BM restoration tomorrow. The controlpanel sticker came. I was expecting a thin metal piece but this thing is plastic.
